7 months since Smokey has passed away - let's honor his memory.
It has been seven months since Smokey passed away. I am still breathing and am alive. I don't know what you all have experienced but sometime I pray that God takes me home as I do not want to continue on without Smokey in my life. This is not the journey I wanted for myself. I have to confess that this is the most hardest, most challenging and most difficult thing I had to do is to continue living without Smokey in my life. This is a night mare which I am slowly waking up from. I am sure you all will agree with me that our husbands were all one hundred percent unique, special to us, the love of our lives and our soul mates. How can we continue on without them but cruel fates have dealt us a horrible hand. There is a saying "if you have lemons make lemonade." How do we turn our horrible hand of fate around into something positive. I would like the answer to this question. After my baby grandson Tyson was born, I decided to turn my horrible experiences into positive things. We are all now widows. I would like to be a free spirited, kick up your heels and have fun kind of widow. I want to be a merry widow. Merry being happy not the other kind people imagine. I have to learn to be an independent, free thinking, open minded and open hearted kind of widow. Our lives are not over without our husbands. We are still living. We are dealt this horrible hand and to honor our husbands make the most of it. How can we honor our husbands in our lives? If you find some one else to love, it is not dishonoring your husband. If you chose to remain a widow, you can honor your husband this way as well. We knew our husbands inside and out so only we know how we can lives our lives to honor them in soul and spirit. For me it will be eventually finding someone to love and make me happy. This is what Smokey wanted for me and this is how I can honor him and his memory. I challenge all the widows/widowers out there to think of ways to honor your husbands/wives. when I say widow this also includes the widowers who lost their wives. This is my thought for the day.
I know we honor our loved ones thru our journal writings in daily strength. I meant a more practical way by honoring our loved ones in our lives that we are living today.

I have been writing journals about my Marti starting basically thw week after she died. The comments have been so heartwarming with most people saying that they have gotten to know her through my writings. That, to me, is the best way I can honor her. Hugs, Kip.
I agree with Kip. Hugs, Wendy
It couldn\'t be said any better than Kip\'s comment. Also I am sure Smokey would want you to share lots of your love with Tyson.
What a lovely post, Diane. Kip is right, but I still have a terrible time with dwelling on Tony\'s loss, so writing about him and looking at his photos is still too painful. I guess I am just different in that way. I lost my perfect dog over 2 years ago and I am just now barely able to express how well-bred, handsome, sweet, and smart he was. The only post I have been able to write about Tony is about the Fire Department memorial plaque. Everyone who knew Tony understood how kind and giving he was. I am glad for you that you have reached the position you are now in. [[[HUGS]]] Patti
Diane, keep thinking about that grandbaby! He is your gift from God that is going to help you through this trying time. I know you\'ve gone through some issues with going out again, but the time will come. Time. It is something we all have too much of these days. Use it to your advantage.
I think I also honor my husband through my journals and picture I have posted here..I feel everyone knows him and how much we cared about each other..and I honor him through keeping his gardens and yard as he would because he loved them so much..as I sit here at my desk at work I am looking at one of his perfect roses that he grew..and every time I pick on of his perfect roses for years to come I will think of him and the love he put into them...hugs Ellen
