December 25th I remember Christmas past sometimes, out in the barn is a rusting little Model T Ford (pictures exist) that I was given at age 7 in 1962 - and other years when there was much family around.  Over the past decade, however, all that has slid away and now it is mostly an empty home and quiet.  We have a tree and limited presents, and actually I take the tree down tonight as I do not want it around after the holiday is done.   Visited the neighborhood where my grandfather lived last night, as I always do, as he loved Christmas totally.  His house ( of course another family is there now _) was dark but I felt he was nearby this year.   We lose so much over time, always gather and try to keep what you do have.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You replied to my Empty Nest posting. This was a very difficult holiday. The kids seem clueless how very lonely we are for them.
I took so much for granted over the years, and now we are left to each other( my husband and I ) but something is missing. ALOT is missing. I can see it in his eyes, he sees my tears, I can\'t even look at pictures from the past....I guess this is a part of life, but it was as a very sad hoilday for us. I had posted a thread in the Depression section\"~feelings hurt~\" becuase my one friend never even extended a Chrsitmas dinner or wish our way. I am not set up for company and get dropping hinmts, but to no avail. I guess we just have to accept the fact that people are wrapped up in their own world and there is no room in it for us.
I hope I am not coming across as feling sorry for myself, but the sadness set in hard. Take Care and thank you for your thoughtfulness.
