60 days gamble free

Well I have made it 60 days gamble free.  Of course I still think about it when I drive by them, or near them but I am very happy not to wake up at night in a panic about how I am going to come up with the money I spent, or wondering where I can find another $100 to get my fix - If I could get my hands on it then it was gone.  I also haven't had to loose sleep over the money and time lost in a casino and telling myself time and again I am done, only to go back the next day to try and win back some of the latest loses, or lying to people (and myself) about where I was and what I was doing or why I was late....
Although I am not yet financially stable I do have a brain now and balancing my checkbook is important.  I have scrimped and scraped all week to avoid an overdraft until payday, in the past I didn't care about the ridiculous fees they charge I just wanted cash to feed the beast!  I am still catching up on bills and would like to tell some of the people that call wondering why I fell behind that I am a recovering compulsive gambler that chose to gamble over sending my car payment in on time.  I wonder what the reaction would be?  I have come to accept the fact that I had a bigger gambling problem for longer than I was admitting to myself and that is why the hole is so deep.  I can't fix overnight what took years to create but I can make it through a day without gambling and that is progress.  If I get better the rest will take care of itself.
