6 Week Scan

So another huge meltdown definitely occurred the night before my 6 week scan- I sobbed uncontrollably and felt like I was one phone call away from the looney bin. I still was not feeling any symptoms besides being more tired than normal, and had convinced myself it was because they were going to find an empty sack or something- I just cannot even handle the fact that your body can trick you into thinking you are pregnant when you are not. I cried half of the night and finally passed out bc I was so exhausted. My regular Dr was out of town so another was filling in for her which made me kind of uneasy. At this point I have been with my Dr for awhile and she knows how handle me and I know how to read her. This new Dr started the u/s and wasn't saying much as she was looking at the screen. This obviously freaked me out and I continued to stare at the screen, not sure of what the hell I was even looking at. She finally started talking and pointing out the yolk sac and the fetal pole and said that the measurements looked good. She got quiet again so I immediately thought there must be something wrong with the heartbeat, but she says, " I think there are 2..." It's a good thing I was laying down, otherwise I may have passed out. My partner and I just stared at each other in disbelief. My betas gave no indication of twins and that was the furthest from our minds- we just felt extremely lucky that one of our last two embryos had even made it this far. I made the Dr stop the u/s and start again to make sure she was seeing it correctly. She was finally able to get both sacs in the same screen and sure enough there were 2 in there, side by side, both with the smallest heartbeats- I actually never even saw the heartbeats bc my head was spinning with this new information, but she said she did, so I believe her. It is so hard not to get too excited. I know it is still so super early, but how can I not let my imagination run away with me about what our life is going to look like??? I want to keep the both of them safe so badly and I hope that my body allows me to do that. Even though it is early, I told my immediate family, but I told them that no one is allowed to be excited yet and that they needed to know in the event that something bad happens and I need help. I absolutely hate that this is what IF has done to me- no cute, creative pregnancy announcements for me bc I am too terrified of what will go wrong. For now I am taking it day by day, and just praying that it doesn't end. I can't even remember the last time I went to the bathroom and didn't take a deep breath before looking down to make sure there was no blood. My RE office doesn't normally do another scan until 8 weeks, but I weasled my way in for a 7 week scan citing the new information of twins as the reason:) So for now the waiting and worrying continues and I have 2 babies that I am trying to grow for the next 34 or so weeks- it is so amazing to say and I just pray that it lasts.

Wow! Twins! That\'s awesome! Congratulations!!! I know it\'s still so nerve wracking when it\'s this early, but try to stay positive. You\'re officially pregnant with twins!! And once the heartbeats are visible, your chance of miscarriage decreases. That\'s great that you were able to get a seven week scan. My RE did only 6 and 8 week scans too, so I\'m happy you don\'t have to wait two more weeks for your next u/s. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that all is well at your next scan, and you\'re able to relax and enjoy this wonderful news. :)

I went in for my 7 week scan this morning- I\'m really only 6w6d so I cheated by a day, but everything looks good so far. 2 normal heartbeats and 2 normal measurements. 1 was already measuring a day ahead so we already have our first distinction between the 2. I am still terrified, but usually after a good visit, I can stay sane for a couple of days. Now I just want to take a nap because I feel like I can relax for a little bit- such a relief!

I also want to say thank you to everyone. No one in my \"real\" life can understand what I have been experiencing for the past couple of years now bc of IF. It is amazing how crazy it can make you feel and act, and it means so much to me that I could come here and not feel alone. I will always feel indebted to the ladies of this site for the caring, compassionate, and encouraging words I have received. I only hope that I was able to make someone\'s day a little brighter or easier bc of something I shared. My journey is nowhere close to being over, but to anyone reading this, if you ever need someone to talk/vent to, please message me. I don\'t care if it is 5 years from now and someone that has barely found DS and is reading this- I know what it is like to feel so alone and needing to connect with someone who understands. I hope that the dark days are at a minimum for us all and that we are all able to find peace and resolution with wherever we end up on this journey. Peace & Love, Nikki

OMG! Wowsers! After your kind words on my horrible post I decided to read your journal entries and this has just made my day!! I am so excited for you. I can totally get the whole denial thing...I had no symptoms at all pretty much the entire pregnancy and being the glass half empty kinda gal I am wasn\'t convinced I was pregnant until about 36 weeks! I am sending you happy healthy vibes from across the world and wish you smooth sailing throughout this pregnancy. I agree with BecMarie..you CAN do this : ) Good luck!

Mrs2014, thank you! I am so glad that you did not take what I wrote in a negative way- I did not want you to think I was judging you at all. I could tell that you were in a lot of pain when you wrote that and it made me so sad because I knew exactly where you were coming from. I am also glad to hear that you did not have very many pregnancy symptoms either. it is so frustrating because it just constantly makes me doubt what is happening in my body. I know I should just be happy that I am not throwing up all day long like some people, but in my head, that would just make me feel \"more\" pregnant. Really, nothing on this journey to parenthood has made any sense to me at all, so why would it start to now? Just gotta get through the next 33 weeks! :)
