6 months ago today...
Every morning I wake up and put on a mask, the mask makes everything seem alright,But they don''t know I cry at night,The nightmares just wont go awayIf only I knew it was your last dayFor six months Ive felt this pain The feeling just wont go away,Everyone thinks Ive dealt with your death the best, but without this mask Id be a mess.Source: My Mask, Grief Poem http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/my-mask-3#ixzz2bObO375Q Family Friend Poems

Yep, wore the mask often...still do sometimes.... I used to think of it as a bad thing....now, I appreciate the \"security blanket\" it was for me, and can still be at times.
Thanks for posting this.
Tight hugs and lots of love~~Teri
Thanks, just raining today and having a bad day. But tomorrow is another day. :)
Julie ~ thinking about you & your precious Greg today.
Anytime we want to take off our mask, we know we can do it here at FMO. Our true feelings & emotions are understood & not judged.
Hugs of understanding.....Vicki
Thanks Vicki, just wishing the family would get it, but after 6 months I realize it\'s not going to happen... I\'m so glad I have you all here and my walking group. And I\'m already saving and planning to join this group for it\'s next reunion. :)
The family,,, get it.... no way,,, my family ,, nope and they do not want too...
I hope you can save enough pennies to join us next year,,,, no masks,,,, just us,, love ya!
I understand and this is why FMO is such a healing place. No masks needed and the understanding and love is always present.
Take care of your broken heart as gently as you can and put on the mask as you need to yet when you come here... The Full Monty... Just sayn...
Sending a heartfelt hug and so much understanding.
XO Joanie
Julie, we are here always and we are not wearing our masks! And we damn well know about the mask! Here, we take it off and what a wonderful thing that we have each other. I gave up on family at day 12 after my son died and my mother told me to quit my crying and get up and go find another place to live. I latched onto FMO and will never let go :-).
Peace.
It is amazing that we can survive the loss of our child...and yet we do. I think that others want us to have \"dealt\" with it so they can feel better. Our loss is THEIR nightmare...and understandably so...it was ours once too. The mask CAN go on...but honesty is okay too. I found that when people ask me about Alex....I would simply say it is the worst pain I have ever known and I am trying to live through it. Your loss is so recent...your pain so fresh...it takes time, so much time. So for right now...existing is okay. Take care of what you have to...and then just be...love and gentle hugs...Karen
