Better
Feeling better since the last few posts...part of the natural ebb and flow of grief, and I believe I am perimenopausal so my hormones are off the rail on a crazy train.
It's a self-diagnosis, haven't been to doctor yet. Could you ladies who have experience please give me some advice pro and con artificial hormone replacement therapy as well as over the counter alternatives. I have put on weight (more)...but I have to be honest and credit it to a very sedentary lifestyle I live. I have a debilitating fear of leaving my house, so my husband finally got me a treadmill inside so I can at least walk a little. I am a heavy sweater so I am starting out every other day simply because I don't want to wash my hair every day...and once I sweat, I HAVE to wash it.
Been feeling so weird. Such a contradiction...I have time and money on my hands but I can't make myself leave my home. Part of it is because with the weight gain I am not comfortable in my own skin. So I get so bored and restless...take as many naps as possible, and my husband is still saying no to the pool idea.
I am STILL not getting notices when someone posts a journal entry??? Has anyone has this problem and if so how can it be fixed???
THanks for all your support sisters, All my love,
Gina

Grateful to know that you are feeling better and such is the natural ebb and flow of this path I have discovered too.
I did not go on any HRT\'s and rode the wild wave of the \"pause\" as I call it naturally. I asked Mr. LJ to be my barometer if I became too heinous as I had worked with a woman who had a complete personality change during that time and truly was the wicked witch. A hormone patch or something might have really helped her because those around her had to suffer with her during that time. That was the one of the spectrum and of course there is everything in-between. There are many natural aids out there that can be implemented as well and that is the route that I go with everything first, but that is just me.
Good for you with your exercising and that is the one constant in my life that has been such a plus for me. I am my father\'s child and must get moving so I had an elliptical in Utah that I used at home and then when we moved I can walk 365 days a year and what a difference that has made for me. Every other day sounds great and just do what you can because all of it is so very helpful.
I don\'t receive the notifications and haven\'t for years and just follow the Daily Activity and that has several pages to it so I usually then can see who has written journals etc. I understand this wouldn\'t work for everyone and perhaps you want to go into your account and do a reset on the settings and if that doesn\'t work send them an email to check into it. I\'m sure you have tried all of these things.
Gentle care dear Gina, and always deep sighs to have some days that don\'t feel so agonizing.
Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
I too am glad you are feeling better. I have no advice as everyone is different. Hoping you find the right path for yourself,
Leda
Gina I am so glad to hear that you navigated this last massive wave in this sea we all find ourselves in.
In reading your journal, I find a lot of similarities between the two of us. I too now hate leaving the house, the panic attacks are so overwhelming. Difference here is that I don\'t have an option. I have put on some weight, not since Jason died but since I broke my back. Prior to my back, I would get so sad and angry when I went out. Sad because simply \"functioning\" hurt so bad and angry that no one knew that my son mattered and their lives (even strangers) were just moving on, same ol\' same ol.
I am, for the most part through what I lovingly refer to as \"mental pause\". I refused HRT\'s as doing my research discovered that some pretty nasty stuff literally fed off the man made hormones that are a part of the therapy and have known a couple of people that the hormonal imbalances became the lesser of the two evils. Something that helped me a great deal was \"Kava Kava\". It is an all natural balancer that takes the edge off of the highs and lows sometimes associated with mental pause.
However, I have also known females that had no option and were so \"off the rails\" that HRT was the lesser of two evils. Everyone is different. Because I was adopted at birth, I had no way of knowing what my biological mother experienced so I was flying blind. Thank Christ I\'m on the other side!
I\'m going to applaud your idea of the treadmill. Drink loads of water and go for it!

You are to young for HRT. The over the counter stuff like Estoven has many different things ie: weight loss, energy ect. That helped me during the late 40\'s. This will be trial and error, if you have a health food store near you they could suggest some items for you again this will be trial and error. I do hope you can get out and get some relief.
Excercis is great. Don\'t worry about being full of sweat, at the gym we say we do not sweat we sparkle LOL My instructor sweats like she just finished laps in the pool. Each one of us is so different in that respect. If have found that working out has saved me as I travel on this grief journey. I will pour all my energy into doing what ever class I am taking or if it is just me and a machine. When I am done and am exhausted I feel better. I do hope you will find and addiction to your tread mill and it will help you in multiple ways. When you get your anxiety in check you will find working out with others forces yourself to work harder and have fun and meet people. The people I have met at the YMCA are great, understanding and all gather around for support when it is needed.
Sending tight hugs

Hi Gina! The roller coaster ride can be exhausting. I am glad you are on the upswing.
I experienced menopause in my early 40s. My doctor didn\'t believe me when I told him I thought I was in menopause. I was right; he was wrong! I tried HRT briefly but I just felt sad. The hot flashes were not a problem. Since I had extreme menstrual cramps, it was a blessing to have done with them. The heat waves were manageable! HRT is really is a choice. Symptoms differ from one person to another.
The treadmill sounds like a good idea! The pool would be awesome...
Take care of yourself as you experience this new phase - mentalpause!
Love and tight hugs, M
Love and hugs, Gina! I have no advice because I never had any problems. Periods just stopped (I don\'t even remember when, it was during the first two years of my son\'s death). I didn\'t even know what HTR was until I googled it LOL. Maybe I need some! XOXO Belinda
Gina, I understand as we all do the ups and down. I think it was one of our sisters who said we have to raise ourselves up because we count. I have been so trying to do this as a way to honor my girls. I hope you can think of it, I feel it has helped me. Hugs, Kathy
I can only imagine the hell of going thru the change along with grief... I am fortunate I had a mild change but my daughter is going through hell.
I\'d say no to hormones, we are not finding out that they cause so much more problems later in life than they fixed...
sorry you are feeling so bad about not being your former self.. it\'s hell not being happy in your skin.
Get on the treadmill, wash your hair every day !
hugs, MaryLou
