I went for my transfer on Saturday morning and I've been on bedrest since then. Today is my first day really up and out of the bed. My DH saw to me sticking to the bedrest. He was great about it, and made my meals for me and served them to me and attempted to do housework while I was in bed. When I went in for my transfer I expected the doctor to have negative news for me, like tell me that my embryos had stopped growing like they did last year. To my great surprise, the doctor informed me that my four embryos hadn't stopped growing. In fact one of my embryos was an early blastocyst, the other a morula, the other almost a morula and the fourth was too far behind to catch up with the rest. I spoke with the embryologist and he told me that the first two embryos were right on target and that the third was almost there, he said the fourth one probably wasn't viable. Thank God, this hadn't all been in vain, they were still growing. My doctor came in and kept asking me "how brave are you?" at first I wasn't getting it and I told him I thought I was a pretty brave person. Then he said he wanted to put all four embryos in this time to increase my chances of becoming pregnant, he wanted to do all four because last year we put in two and that failed. Well, my eyes were big as saucers but after he explained it a little more to me and DH we decided to go ahead and put them all in. The doctor did explain that the fourth embryo would probably stop growing and that it was a very real possiblilty that the three other embryos would continue. I can deal with that, 3 kids all screaming at once, I think. I'm willing to take that chance. My DH is wonderful and will help me as much as possible. My transfer was a little more painful than I remembered it being last year. My ovaries were so huge and tender and you have to have a moderately full bladder for the transfer. Now imagine your ovaries feeling like they are the size of bowling balls and they have your uterus smashed in between them like an Oreo cookie and then someone pressing on your stomach with an ultrasound probe while you are about to pee on yourself, not a very comfortable situation, but I'd do it a hundred times over if it meant that there was a baby at that end of it at some point. I know that there is a very real chance that none of the embryos will attach, but I believe that God will finally give me my heart's deepest desire and right now I choose to bask in the positive thought that maybe God has answered my prayers and it did work. Please continue to pray for me.
