I guess they failed to  include CONFUSED as an entry ,, this would apply to me right about now ... I had this all spelled out in my head a couple of hours ago and now it is all jumbled up and basically gone ,,,oh yeah ,,I was sitting in McD's earlier and came up with this thought or connection,,, and I thought a lot about  this today,,,
If I could go back in time to say 1983 which would be thirty years ago, and had the ability to drag myself along knowing what know up until that time and plopped down in 2013,, what would I see,, and how would I react and deal with the changes,
First,,, I would marvel at the technology and upon further reflection would come to understand that it is pretty pointless in terms of how people use it to further there cause of being human beings,, or of addressing disturbing behavior issues and in many cases it has only contributed to making conditions a lot worse,,, lots of bells, whistles, flashing lights which have yielded a new level of manipulation, stupidness, and narcissistic behavior,, well beyond anything existing in 1983.
Second ,,, the level of despair, depression, anxiety has seeped deeply into the blood vessels of the culture as never before ,,, in 1983 even with Reagan ,, and unemployment the ability to access a new job meant going to a place, talking to someone who either liked you or didn't, liked your history, background or didn't and you had a certain degree of control,, and your ability to jump though hard was not made impossible as computers were still a tool to assist and they had not achieved the role of complete dominant master of the landscape yet ... there was no internet,,
Third,,, if you got wacked in a relationship and things did not work out ,, for the most part most people were able to move it on,, there was pain and frustration for certain,, but for most people the phrase ,,,"get over it "  had a real world application,, and it certainly did not contribute heavily to the emotional brain drain that is in place today,,,, or perhaps there was more thought given to working a problem out for the sake of ....(fill in the blank) which was not a poorly constructed concept.
Fourth ,,, Paranoia did not rule 90% of everything we do or what we think or how we respond or not respond. 9/11 was a cultural seed change for the world instead of an isolated monstrous crime by 14+/- Saudi nationals along with the domestic versions in our own country.

Making that jump from 1983 to 2013 just 30 short years ,,,how did we manage to get things so screwed up that nothing is recognizable anymore ,,,,and the answer is that we all lived through a continuum connecting these two point and we all saw the result because we lived through the experiences and accepted them along the way,,

Sometimes i think it wd b easier to talk, since I text on my phone. But I\'m amazed by Facebook, how people want to put details of their lives for all to see..I was on for awhile..but I didn\'t have the time...or at certain points the energy. Computers have changed everything...job hunting, dating, made life faster. Me, I\'m a late bloomer type of person...so the rush of things doesn\'t match well.

There are so many gadgets....but Neil, the young people love gadgets..iPhones, e-books, etc.

After 9/11 we realized how vulnerable we are. We are not exempt. But still luckily, not living like many other countries, in fear of bombings at marketplaces. Even our poor have housing. So, I\'m happy to still live in America. I don\'t know if you\'re interested in my comments on ur journal entries, but I do read them with interest.

Any who...
