normally, i use DS to talk about my issues, problems, challenges, etc...
but what i need right now is a different kind of help...i need some new music to listen to. at 36, i'm frightfully out of the loop on what's good out there these days...before you offer suggestions, a few guidelines on what i like / don't:
1) i'm sorry to offend, but i'm not into country music...or opera. all other genres welcome.
2) some of my fav bands (admittedly all over the place) include: natalie merchant, coldplay, sia, the housemartins, anything 80's with a synth, nirvana, rage against the machine, gnarls barkeley, public enemy, spearhead, mc 900 ft jesus, the clash, billy bragg, coltrane, wilco, keane....err, and a bunch of other stuff.

I love bad a.m. radio songs of the 70s~the cheesier the better. One called Timothy by the Bouys is particularly fun. It\'s about canibalism in a collapsed mine. Very catchy hook. I also like Keane, I recently discovered Lucinda Williams. I have an oddly psychotic range in musical tastes. No heavy metal, or hip hop, though. My kids think I\'m hopeless!

It\'s a fabulous site that uses algorithms to pick songs for you that you will most likely fit your tastes. You start by setting up a station for a musician that you like. Let\'s say you choose Dave Matthews. The first song will be by Dave and then it will start picking songs with similar features to the previous song. As you listen to each song you can click on either \"like\" or \"don\'t like\" and the selections will continue based on your feedback. The coolest thing about it is that it introduces obscure bands that you may never have come across otherwise. This makes the site function much like NetFlix does, in that it can address the diverse tasts of the \"long tail\" by offering an extensive, non-mainstream array of music. You can bookmark the artists and songs that you discover, and then you can build additional \"music stations\" based on these new artists. Hopefully it will help you to discover a whole new world of music!
