normally, i use DS to talk about my issues, problems, challenges, etc...
but what i need right now is a different kind of help...i need some new music to listen to. at 36, i'm frightfully out of the loop on what's good out there these days...before you offer suggestions, a few guidelines on what i like / don't:
1) i'm sorry to offend, but i'm not into country music...or opera. all other genres welcome.
2) some of my fav bands (admittedly all over the place) include: natalie merchant, coldplay, sia, the housemartins, anything 80's with a synth, nirvana, rage against the machine, gnarls barkeley, public enemy, spearhead, mc 900 ft jesus, the clash, billy bragg, coltrane, wilco, keane....err, and a bunch of other stuff.

I love all of those bands-- admittedly I\'m a huge Our Lady Peace fan-- some people can\'t get into them though I love them- Lately I\'ve been listening to a lot of acoustic guitar, and other relaxing stuff like that- If you like acoustic guitar, I\'d say check out Andy McKee, I was recently turned on to him and now I listen to him all the time
Umm...let\' see... I have about five new bands that I can tell you about- first of all- have you listened to Sufjan Stevens, he\'s all the rage these days. Have you heard the new Badly Drawn Boy album? Matisyahu? The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album? Are you a fan of Nick Drake- old school but classic? I should make you a couple of cds. Let me know if you have any of these and then I will try to compile something together. I also discovered the Counting Crows- Across the Wire acoustic album which is truly amazing. I was never a huge fan until recently and soley due to this album. There\'s also Bright Eyes- amazing lyrics- but very specific sound. The new Tracy Chapman album is awesome as well. We\'ll talk .

well, i hate to admit it, but most of my \"New Music\" is chosen by Reicher. He has an amazing ear for what is going to be popular next...he picked the Raconteurs and Wolf Mother for you. I\'m into either really old stuff that would make you laugh, (like ELO or The Band), or hip/hop R&B boarderline gangster rap (love me some Tupac). Good luck listening to that list! Hey, email our mutual friend Howard, who is in charge of music content at your old haunt, he\'ll probably have some good stuff for your ears.
If you want something to really get you moving and pump you up. Like if you have to clean or do something that is really boring I would say go pick up some electronic music. In my opinion Sven Vath would be a good one for any boring occasion.
Kathy Mattea\'s latest CD (Right Out Of Nowhere). Also her CD: Roses.
Forgot to mention...even though Kathy Mattea has previously won CMA awards, she is no longer a country singer. She\'s now a mix of gospel, folk, pop-like rock. Very inspiring.
I wish I could help you but I\'m having trouble mining my 12k songs for something to put on my Ipod. It seems like nothing good has come out recently unless you are into Pop rock. My friend just gave me 3000 songs of Reggae. When I get through those I\'ll send you some.

Different kind of sound, but relaxing. Not so good for working out, unless you are into bellydancing, though.... lol.
