I wanted to wait until I dug myself out of my hole before being able to write on here. I also have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to respond to many of you. I have been reading your journals, but haven’t responded to some and I’m sorry for that! Needless to say, we have been in utter shock, depressed, and feeling like our journey is coming to an end. It scares the fucking shit out of me. I feel like a lost soul that has no direction. I hate where I am working, I can’t get pregnant, and I am truly envisioning my life with no children. I have thrown myself a two week pity party. I literally cried so hard on my birthday that I got down on the floor and asked God why he is killing us so slowly. The pain and sadness is overwhelming. I read on resolve yesterday a few articles of people who chose to live childfree after years of trying and infertility treatments. They all described the twinges of occasional pain they still felt, but how mostly their lives were wonderful. To be honest, it all sounded terrible and like a bunch of bullshit. I’m sure eventually with time your pain heals, but it never fully goes away. OK, enough with depression mode right now.
We do have some new found hope. We had our apt. with my RE this past Tuesday. I sent him an email with a laundry list of questions so that he would be prepared for our meeting. He told us that he honestly doesn’t know why this cycle did not work for us. Our embryos were wonderful and there is no reason it shouldn’t have worked. Awesome. I asked him if DH’s sperm could now be a contributing factor. He said compared to the other recipient we looked the same. She got pregnant, but quickly miscarried and ended up with 2 more embryos then us. He said he did not feel like DH’s sperm was the issue based off the comparison, however it doesn’t 100% rule it out.
So, my husband mentions to him that we feel like we have given up hope of this last embryo working and that we are paying thousands more dollars for this FET, just to get our refund back. My RE asked us why we would be paying thousands of dollars? We were under the impression that the FET was 6,000. I have no idea who told us this. Well apparently it is covered under our shared risk plan we chose!! That was a huge financial weight off our shoulders. My RE also said that he feels like he is not finished with us yet. He hates that he hasn’t been able to get us pregnant and that we are truly nice people who would be wonderful parents someday. He said “I really like you guys, and if it was anyone else I would probably let them walk away.” He said he has not had many people walk away from his office without success. He asked us if we would be willing to try one more cycle with donor egg and donor sperm and he would pay half our costs out of pocket for us in order to do it. (of course, pending this FET fails). We were very shocked to hear him say this. We told him financially we wouldn’t be able to move forward after this FET, which is what prompted him to offer to pay. It honestly gave us a new found hope. It scares me to think that we would be creating a baby from two donors and how the baby will someday feel about it. Although, it also makes me feel like my journey isn’t as close to being over as I thought. It was amazing how differently I felt leaving his office. I have no idea what this next year will bring us in our journey, but I am willing to give the double donor cycle a shot. Never in a million years did I think that this is where I would be in my life. Fuck you IF! I’m not giving up!!

When I had my failed IVF and there was no reason that it failed my DR. did a uterus biopsy. He stated that they is like a 10% of women that need to be transferred at a different time then other women and the biopsy helped him pin point the day he needed to transfer the embryos. So after the biopsy I started my cycle and he transferred the embryos when the biopsy said I needed it and it worked. I am now 12 weeks pregnant. It\'s worth asking about. I will be praying for you.
I\'m glad to see you back in action! I have been checking in every day to see if you had any updates. I understand taking time off and the pity party. I definitely did that after my second retrieval, and if this last transfer, whenever we get around to it, doesn\'t take then I am sure that I will be throwing myself another one. I think its always good to give yourself time to grieve. Otherwise the pain might manifest as something else, and come out when you least expect it later on. And that my friend is not fun!
I think we are in a very similar place right now, as our journey may be coming to an end soon too. I also hate my job too, and I can\'t get pregnant either. We should have a drink together!
I truly hope that your next transfer will be the one, and you won\'t have to go through another cycle, but that is incredible that your RE would offer to pay for your next cycle! We are in the same boat in that too, this will be our last transfer because we can\'t keep spending money on something that may never work. After our next transfer we move on to trying to adopt instead, which is also a long, hard road.
I am inspired by how you have turned around and are back to being so positive, and I thank you for all of the encouraging words on my journal entries.
For starters, Becky, there is no need to apologize! We all understand the need to step back and just take the time to grieve for a while. I am so sorry you are going through this and that your birthday was so terrible. Although I certainly haven\'t been through all that you have, I remember thinking we were at the end of the road (when we thought IVF was not an option - before we discovered Penn), and it was such an awful feeling. It is so hard to give up...
But wow, I am thrilled to hear that the FET is covered under your plan. I really hope that it works of course - that would be amazing! There\'s still a good chance it could; it\'s a bit of a numbers game (like the bead story), so let\'s hope this one takes! But of course, that\'s awesome that your doctor is willing to help you guys financially so you can do a double donor cycle!! It is amazing the things we thought we\'d never do or even imagine doing - how that changes as we deal with IF. As you know, my DH and I were strongly considering doing donor embryo simply because it would be more affordable than IVF. (Although, I\'m sure a donor egg and donor sperm cycle would have better success rates.) It makes my heart happy that you\'re not giving up!! I was honestly gleeful when I read your journal entry. Also, in terms of worrying how your child will feel when they learn their birth story, I think as long as it\'s not kept hidden from them, it will just be what it is and not a bad thing. I had found some children\'s books that help explain it when we thinking of doing donor embryo. Regardless, that child will be here because of you and your husband, and he/she will be well taken care of and loved.
So, now 2016 has to be the year when we finally beat IF!! Wishing you all the best!! Please keep us updated. Thinking of you always. xoxo
Wow, there should be a DS page for those suffering with infertility who hate their job, as I also hate mine! Haha!
I\'m glad to see you updating again, Bec :) I know how hard the struggle is to pick yourself back up to get back at it...
It would be so amazing if all of us on this page could take a trip to the Bahamas where we could throw the biggest and baddest pity/support party ever! I do have an amazing support system, but unless you\'ve walked down the road of IF, they just will never get it. It means so much to me to hear the stories of other people who truly understand what I am thinking and feeling.
And I am also calling BS on those Resolve blogs... I just can\'t imagine ever being truly ok with letting this go. Maybe it is possible, but it is a real struggle for me to picture growing old without any children.
Hopefully 2016 will be a kinder year to all of us- may we find answers, peace, and resolution!
Popped in to check on you. Your RE sounds like a great doctor and an amazing person. I also call bullshit on the Resolve blogs. You can make peace with it but it can never really just go away.
You\'re going to be a mom. YOU ARE. I can\'t wait to watch it happen. Love love love.
I am so sorry to hear that the holidays and your birthday were not the celebration that you had hoped they would be. But I, like all the other ladies, am so happy to hear that an FET is possible and that your RE is not willing to give up on you!
We are choosing to donate our embryos once we have decided that we are done, and it\'s reading journals like this that make me believe 100% that it is the right thing to do! I don\'t know how popular ours will be as we used donor sperm with my eggs but we want to be able to give more families the chance to fulfill their dreams!
I\'m just so thrilled and excited to hear about your updates as things progress!
Becky - It\'s so good to \"hear\" from you. Like others mentioned above - no need to apologize. You deserve all the time you need!
What a wonderful offer from your doctor! Having someone on your side in this horrible IF journey is inspiring. I\'m so glad you have him and that you feel inspired to not give up!!
I call BS on the resolve blogs too. I followed a couple women on IG who had chosen to live child free after IF and they just seemed sad. You put your best foot forward but I can imagine the pain and emptiness are still and always there..
You got this!
Becky, I just cannot believe what an amazing, strong person you are. The fact that the Dr wants to help out financially (out of his own pocket!) is obviously a testament to what wonderful people you and your husband are. Reading this has brought tears to my eyes. I am not an overly religious person, but i am praying so hard that 2016 is the year for you guys. Sending you loads of love and strength from the other side of the world xx
Hi Becky, I\'m proud of you for standing up and continuing the battle. I feel like we are warriors for our dreams, and one day we\'ll overcome the struggle. I relate to you in many ways, I\'m also a nurse and recently have had trouble at work, I find myself dreading going in to work, I also feel like my life is out of control in many areas of my life (friends, school, work, family,) I just feel very u stable. In the midst of that, I scared about my upcoming ivf. I guess this is part of the process. I want to wish you the very best!
I\'m just reading this today, I haven\'t been on here in a while. I would get so down after a failed cycle (miscarriage) and all the waiting in between, I\'ve never felt so lost. As I\'ve told you before, the only thing that gave me hope was telling myself to never give up. I would tell myself that I would do whatever it takes to one day realize my dream of having a baby. It took us so long Becky, but now I have my beautiful daughter who is my world and I am currently 23 weeks pregnant again. Its a miracle! It will happen for you too. I am thinking of you!! xoxo
