Catching up

October 21, 2015  Things that make me happy: 1, The chattering of fallen leaves as they rustle down the road. 2, Learning to use my Kindle. 3, Laughing with Matt.
Wow!  Can’t believe it has been three weeks since I journaled or visited this site.  Hope y’all are doing okay.  I will try to catch up with everyone.  That first week in October, I really worked toward building myself back up to what I consider to be my baseline.  I think I made some progress.   A highlight of that first week was attending a wine and canvas painting fund raiser for the Community Center.  With Don helping in the harvest field during all the daylight hours, I was ready for some socializing and I enjoyed it; but I couldn’t help comparing it to the one I attended a few months ago.  That time, I assembled cheese and meat platters, helped set up, painted with vigor, and chatted and laughed with the other attendees.  This time, I was much more subdued.  It took all my energy just to attend.  I felt shaky, so painting took most of my concentration.  Even so, I was able to spend a couple hours each day for the following couple weeks helping with the moves – nothing strenuous, just packing and unpacking boxes.  Penny’s in-laws had lived in that house for 40 years so had accumulated a great deal of stuff!  After the first couple days, my energy flagged.  I still helped with the moving because I wanted to help and be with other people.  However, I was not able to do my exercises and eventually not even my few chores at home.  I had hoped to help with the steak feed that the Center puts on the first week of pheasant hunting season.  Last year, I helped with the decorations and then sat at the reception table with a friend taking orders and accepting donations.  This year I was too ill to attend.  I was even too tired to leave the house to visit with Don’s extended family and friends who come each year to hunt.  Our son Matt was also home to hunt and he spent some time at home with me.  He is a pretty good guy!  For those few days, I could barely rouse myself to let the dogs out, but I am better now.  I can still only work for about 20 minutes at a time, but I am managing to get in my exercises and a few of my chores. Judging and accepting my limitations seems to be an ongoing learning experience!  .Speaking of limits, I have about reached mine for the day.  I’ll have to wait til tomorrow to catch up with everyone.  Hugs to all!

I love your grateful attitude. I am glad you can get your chores done, little by little. That\'s how I do mine. Just a little at a time, but eventually, it all gets done. I\'m glad your lovely son spent some time with you. My girls are still growing up, but I often hope that we will have a good relationship when they are adults. Much love. Heather.

I understand how important it is just to try and maintain our baseline with cfs. When we are crashed that good old baseline makes a significant difference in our life.Glad you made it out to the community fund raiser. We need to feel that there is some activity happening at least some of the time.I am very familiar with that shaky feeling.I understand your disappointment in being more limited at this particular function but still you made it there and you did contribute.Well done!! Nice that you have a close relationship with your son and he spent some quality time with you.Just keep pacing my friend.Hugs and healing to you.
