Day 38...

Told another friend last night that I had quit gambling and it had been 37 days.. she said it sounds like if you are counting the days you "really" have an addiction. :] She is one who always sort of denied that there was any problem - like with her mother's gambling; she claims her mother does lose sometimes but overall comes out winning... I don't think the mother is telling her everything, but it really doesn't matter - doesn't affect what I am doing at all.
Looking forward to more GF days and things are already much better! No guilty feelings about anything!
Hugs to all,
Smokeygirl

No one admits they are losing. They would sound stupid. Hey friend, I love to gamble but I lose a lot of money at it. Who would say that? They ALL say they come out ahead but they don\'t keep track. Then why is it they can\'t pay their bills? Denial is all you get from addicts. I have been there and I kept track and I still wouldn\'t admit to it to anyone else, but I knew, I knew I was losing and going down. I just watched a true tv show where a man in prison, he was old, had shot and killed his wife of 41 yrs marriage because he was caught stealing funds to make up for gambling debts and he knew he was going to jail so he did her a favor so she wouldn\'t have to live through it. Then he went on the run for almost a year, living it up til he was caught. Unbelievable but gambling ruins lives.

Wow - that\'s quite a story; very sad. Thanks, Barb. Hope everything\'s going well for you - I miss some of our old friends that used to write on here too... do you know what ever happened to Dianne E - she had been free of gambling for two years, I think, and then suddenly disappeared.
