Day 22...

So far so good - a friend at work told me today about her mother winning this past weekend.. rather than make a big deal of it, I just listened for a minute, and then switched the subject.  I know from what she's said about the mother's gambling experiences that she will put it all back in and more. Normally hearing of someone's wins would be a trigger for me, but it wasn't.
I'm actually glad I handled it the way I did.  I could have said something to her about my efforts to quit... (we used to go sometimes together), but I figured I'd just let my actions speak for themselves.  I wasn't even tempted, so for that I'm thankful.
Take care everyone,
Smokeygirl

Great job Smokey! That has to feel great and you should be very proud of the progress you are making.

I too am proud of you but you are putting yourself through the ringer by not telling your friends that you are trying to quit, or have quit and determined to quit. Personally I didn\'t tell friends in the past I quit or went to GA years ago because I didn\'t want to disappoint them if I tripped. But you can\'t have one foot in and one foot out. Like going on a diet, can\'t tell friends or they will be watching every bite I take and I will rebel and eat the whole buffet. I am glad you weren\'t tempted but why let people tempt you? My neighbor begins to tell me about her nite out and then says, oh never mind it wasn\'t important. Now that is a friend. Now down the road, I can walk in and watch my dtr play and there are no triggers. I do not care to because it\'s boring and I don\'t need a trigger and it could jump out at me. hugs barb
