Today I'm kinda pissed off right now. At work there's been a couple of things with the chef that I've let slide, but tomorow I'm going to say something. Since I've been there I've noticed that the chef has an attitude where he's the only one that knows anything about cooking. Since I was a chef too, I know chefs have attitudes and ego's. Mostly I let the small shit just roll off, but this one is pushing it too far. I try to be nice and practise what I've learned in A.A, but often I seem to run into this same problem. Seems like when you act nice, and show respect like your supposed to, people seem to take it for a weakness. This isn't the first time that I've run into this, and I have asked myself if it's something that I'm doing wrong. or causing by my behavior. No, it isn't. I've showed this chef 150% respect, tollerance, politeness, and everything else. I've never talked back, even when I had plenty of oportunity, or disrespected him in any way. At times I've found that he just outright does things that are wrong, and just seem like an abuse of position. He'll tell me that I didn't do something properly, when in actuality it's just because I didn't do it his way. I feel like I have to be a bit of a mind interpreter or something. Today he went just a bit too far, and I feel for my own peace of mind I need to say something. Things were well in the kitchen and he was with the manager most of the morning, but when he came in, he seemed like he was deliberatly trying to piss me off or something. He complained about pans not in this cabinet, which is no big deal at all. It was two small pans that you just take from the shelf and place in the cabinet. No big deal whatsoever, but he started slaming the door and stuff. I almost blew up right there. There was no reason or cause for any kind of comotion. I feel mad now that I did keep quiet. He truly deserved to be told off. Even with these kinds of things, I have kept my cool and remained calm. I maintained respect for him. I feel that sometimes with these kinds of people, it just doesn't matter what you do. They seem to need to find faults at any cost, and they will go to any length. I've come to realize that with this person today, so tomorow I'm going to lay down my rules. That may sound stupid, since he is my boss, but it is something you have to do in these situations. There is no amount of respect or niceness that works with them. I need to resort to my own personal boundries, an establish Them clearly. If that sounds like threatening, well, I guess it's kinda a step below that. People may not agree, but I have dealt with sick people like this before. They just don't accept sensibility, resoning, or understanding. They need to know that I won't put up with bullshit. Period! Somtimes you need to stand up. It's scary to do, because there can be all kinds of consequences, but it's worth it. To just let things go and do nothing, is selling yourself out. I'm not doing that.

Your own peace of mind is very, very important. Do what you have to do, just be sure you\'ve thought it through. I\'ve done what I thought I had to do in the past. . .and on reflection, regretted it a bit. ;)
