Today was my first day back to work and boy did it suck. I didn't even know we where supposed to get a winter storm. For us here in NC thats usually only a couple inches but its mixed with freezing rain and sleet. It started as soon as I got to work and it didn't take long for it to get real shitty. The whole day I had anticipatory anxiety about the drive home. I have a truck but its 2 wheel drive and with the storm being mostly ice no body can drive on ice. The road workers do the best they can but the bottom line is they are not prepared for this. It only happens once or twice a season but its horrible. I was sliding all over the road. I think I held my breath most of the way. When I got home I gave Edgar a pet and then chugged a beer. I know, I shouldn't be handling my stress and anxiety with booze but today I don't give a fuck. OK, so my little bitch session is over, now to list a couple good points to today. The passengers were all very cool, I have some great co-workers and when I got home Edgar was very playful, running all around the house playing and that always puts a smile on my face. The days better now that works done and I'm home safe.

The problem dobie, is that its not really snow. Its a mix of snow and ice, mostly ice. Sadie, I can relax better now but I have to go back to work tomorrow and I am worried about how the roads will be in the morning. For now, I\'m ok though.

Glad you made it home safely. i know how you feel living in the south we hardly ever get snow so the roads are NEVER prepared and once you\'ve slid on ice it scares the hell out of you!! Hope you have a good day at work today. HUGS!!
Glad that you got home safe, even though you had a scary drive home. Nothing wrong with throwing a drink to relax now and again. I hate snow and ice and all that wintry weather for that exact reason. (Hugs)
On ice one winter, I was at the top of a hill and slid through 3 intersections. I honestly thought I was going to die. I guess the other cars could tell my car was out of control so they didn\'t cross the intersections.
Why did I bring this up? That was stupid.
So just go slow and try to avoid any hills!!
So glad you are home safe it must have been so scary with the sliding. As long as you didn\'t get drunk out of your mind I think one beer is nothing to beat yourself up about. Great that you were able to find some positive things in your day. Edgar sounds like a good companion.
