Well, here we are. After fighting tooth and nail for total financial control, I've gotten my wish. I should feel relieved, but I don't. My husband looks like a shell of a man. He looks at me with resentment, like I've taken everything from him.
Yesterday I made a comment about a show he was watching. It's a stupid show, and I just couldn't help but point out how implausible this particular scene was.
"What, you want to take my show away from me, now, too?"
So I'm taking things away from him, that's how he sees it. Because I don't want him overdrafting our bank accounts to pay for a video game that he could play for free (and still does, by the way.)
Last night I had a dream that there was a girl he wanted to hang out with, just as "friends." I didn't understand how suddenly spending alone time with a female he'd just met was innocent, but he gave me a guilt trip over being too "controlling", so I allowed it. Just moments later I walked in on them taking a shower together and wasn't even surprised.
I think this dream is symbolic in that he is seeing me as being controlling. Never mind the fact that I never checked up on him or our finances before when I trusted him. The last thing I want is to be married to a man that I have to watch like a little child. But whatever. He sees me as controlling now, and is bound to rebel one way or another. Would I really be surprised if it's with another woman? I'm forcing him to see himself for what he is, and he doesn't like it. He wants to be seen as the war hero super dad, the guy who has it all together, and he could easily convince a new girl of this.
Whatever. Let it happen, then. Let him be her burden.
