Progress

One day is not a trend, but I do feel better. I am practicing not trying to feel others feelings, like I used to do. Before I was hypervigilant to scan anyone and everything for their mood and feelings and adjust mine to theirs so I could empathize and sympathize with their feelings; sympathize is probably the best word to describe it. I would leap at the opportunity to try to parallel my feelings with others, most likely as some kind of defense, maybe to avoid rejection or abandonment. Yesterday I began to detangle that emotion. I'm praticing keeping my feelings seperate from others. It's working, at the moment, and there is a feeling of relief from the anxiety of being keyed to change myself and my feelings to whatever problem arises. This old habit would probly explain my mood swings in the past. I could never feel secure or stable because I was always fearing an abrupt change for whoever I met and the mood they were in, consequently my mood was always changing. At least it feels different now that I have understood my right to maintain my own feelings seperate from others. We'll see how I do with more new experiences. Gotta go! Have to take the dog to the firestation in Kendalia for his rabies shot, I don't know whether we'll take the cat or not; the two of them in the car together may be too stressful for all of us. Have a positive day. Rich
