Wow! What a day yesterday! Spent the night at the "pilot's cabin" at the north ranch of the San Rafael Ranch, totally alone! I'd only been out there twice, once to process a deer with my coworkers (just for the experience, since I'm not a hunter myself), and the other time was when some illegals started a grass fire in the summer, which took everyone and all the construction workers to put out. No dinner, slept on a couch. but slept well after reading more of the "DaVinci Method" book. Left the Ranch area by 11:00 a.m., Having had to break into the old shop to load my things (which wasn't that difficult since I understand how to set and remove doors); found my little trailer intact, but not noticing the hitch mechanism wasn't working, left in a confident mood. Everthing was going well except twice the trailer became unhitched twice on the 3 mile treck on the caliche' road to the main hiway. No matter just a glitch! Things were going fine; BUT! ONCE AGAIN, for the second time in two trips from the ranch Engine problems while approaching Jordanton, Texas! The last time, I destroyed the engine, this was a brand new replacement...the fan belt broke! No power-steering, no a/c, no alternator to recharge the battery, no fan to cool the engine. Had to stop to get gas anyway, that's when I found out the belt was broken, hanging in the engine compartment. Went to a local Auto parts store to get a belt, got to use some tools to replace the belt (did I mention that I became an excellent mechanic out of nessity over the years of poverty?). Cranked the engine and shut it off as the belt squealed! The belt broke because the tensioner pully's ball-bearing was burned up. Bought another one. In the process of removing the old pulley I found that the entire Tensioner Assembly was the problem. Fortunately, they sell them at the auto parts store, bought one of those. Installed it! Fine! What I'm not saying is how angry and frustrated I was; cussing a blue-streak; seriously pissed, as alot of ADDer's can be. The plan had been to avoid going through San Antonio at rush hour; with a unlatched trailer hitch. Sure enough, I was going through SA @ 5:00 p.m. Fortunately, the traffic was so slow that the one time the trailer did unhitch, it wasn't that dangerous to pull over in the Left-hand lane to re-attach it. I got home at dark, completely depleated. My adrenals were on empty. The end.
