Today I had a visit with my pdoc.    I was pretty anxious about going because I knew there would have to be a med change.    He told me he is not having any success at finding a cocktail that works for me.     He, and I,   are happy with the Lithium, especially stopping the rapid cycling,  but not at the dose I'm taking,   we stopped increasing the dose at week 2 due to "death like" side effects...lol   He has tried me on a variety of anti depressents,  but they make me worse so he wants to stay away from them, at this point anyway.    I tried an anti psychotic now and it got the job done...too fast and too much......and set me off into that dysphoric mania place!    The place I survived through and am living to talk about it...lol!!!    Sooo...my pdoc wants me to increase my dosage of Lithium starting at bed time tonight.   I will be taking 300mg 3x a day.   I am the only patient of his that doesn't take their dose all at one time,  I have to split it up because of the side effects.....I'm NOT going to say what I'm thinking!   I really need to try to stay positive....pray for me!     In 10 days I get my blood work done.   As of today my Lithium levels are very low, in 10 days we're hoping they will be higher.  If I am able to tolerate the dosage increase, and my levels get higher,  we will be talking again and I have an appt already scheduled for March 3rd.   So here I sit a little nervous about taking this new dosage at bed time...aaahhhh!!!  For those who no me aahhhh is my writing way of saying oh no!!!!     One good thing that came out of last weeks storm is I made some new wonderful friends!    Thanks for loving me!  Ramona oxxoxooxoxoxox

Dear Ramona, I know that fear of taking meds. Lithium made me a zombie but it has been a lifesaver to many. So sorry you went through all that manic stuff. I call that hell on earth and wrote a poem about it once. Lets pray for peace and calmness for both of us. Love from Victoria

lithim was not good for me, I had a death like reaction to it to, in fact to all anti-depressants for some people they make them more depressed, I stick with my mood stabilizer Abilify and good old fashion fish oil.

Lithium worked well for me in the past. I was up to 1200 mg. per day. (I took 600 in the morning and the same at night) It really helped me - finally got my blood levels up to \"therapeutic dose.\" Hope it works well for you - I will be thinkin\' of ya!
