Still sober.. Its been quite a challenge but a good one. I think what I miss the most is the small home town bar I use to stop into when I was headed home after work.. It is called the La Sabre also known as the La Slober..lol.. Cute little quaint bar and it has been there for years. My friend Maverick owns it and he tells me stories how my grandmother use to come in there when he was just a boy. He told me that she was the most beautiful woman in the valley and he always had a crush on her. My grandmother died last year at 94 and she was still beautiful.Anyway, I loved going in there especially when I was really depressed because I was kinda like Norm on Cheers in this bar.. I would walk in the door and all my friends and the bartender (as I was a good tipper and bought lots of drinks, lol) would call out my name.. Y'Vonne. Most of these people knew each other and would come over and give me hugs one at a time. I always felt so loved and missed if they hadnt seen me for awhile. I was always the jokester after a couple of drinks so it wouldnt take long before they would be sitting on the bar stools next to me to hear the latest stuff that would pop out of my mouth.. No matter how depressed I was the drink and the friends would always make it worth stopping in for. I never stayed real long unless once in awhile I would stop in on a Friday or Saturday and then I would stay till closing and find a ride home..  I miss this bar and my friends but it is something that I need to stay away from until I can handle myself..  This is my story and Im sticking to it.. Y'Vonne

That sounds so familiar. Thats like my hometown bar...a little hole-in-the-wall pub in a town of 500 people. It doesnt matter how long I have been gone for, when I come home, and walk through those doors, it is exactly like \"Cheers\". Its tough to walk away from that to stay sober!

Sweetie. I can only tell you one thing to hang on to. You will be able to go back to your little bar. It wasn\'t the alcohol that makes it the special place. It is the people. They serve pop in there too. You don\'t need the booze. You do need the people. There will be lots of temptation everywherre you go. You have prooven that you can resist the temptation. You will know when the time is right.

I am so proud of you Y\'Vonne. You have made so much progress and I agree with the previous response. One day you will be comfortable going back to that little bar and saying hello without the temptation. xxx

You can do it! I\'ve been going thru a lot, rehab and being around an alcoholic husband. You can do it, I know I want to.

your journal made me smile....I am proud of you
things will get better and know the temptation well...
we can have other \"addictions\" in addition to booze...but know how you feel just the same

Think of going there as a reward for when you know you can handle it. Once you have your bearings, maybe you can stop in and just have a coffee or a soda. Until then, just stop by DS... We all know your name!

look for a coffee shop to replace that stop in and chat feeling .
