3 years
I can't believe that 3 years have gone by since I moved out. I still remember sitting in my place and falling apart thinking that there was NO way I would make it, yet here I am.
This time of year is a bit of a struggle just because I want to make sure everyone has a great Christmas but realizing that all of my kids (they are all grown or almost) have shifted priorities and expectations now. (If they don't then the need to lol). I am doing what I can this year and everyone will have a beautiful time.
Next year things are going to change. I have come up with a plan that I want to implement in January. I am going to buy 1-2 things per paycheck that I can put back for some type of angel tree or other program. I am always drawn to do this but usually I wait and then can't afford to buy a bunch of stuff outside the normal family gifts I can buy. This year I will keep it in the front of mind and prepare.
The ex is being typical. Nice. Mean. Nice. Mean. The kids are so tired of this. I don't blame them, I lived it for so long and don't miss it one little bit. I still can't believe that I thought I was happy living that life.
I have 9 working days left to this year and then we close for two weeks! I can't wait. My new grandson will be entering the world within the next couple of weeks, my college daughter will be home and we can work on her wedding some, my HS kiddo will be out and around to spend time with us. We will just be missing my son and his family.
Hope everyone is finding time to find their center, enjoy the important things and let go of the rest.

I, too, am 3 years in, and in a place I never dreamed I be. Your last sentence says it all :)
Hi Lori, yes, I think I am in a much better place now. I held on for so long to something that was so completely toxic and hurtful to me. Now on the other side I often wonder why I did. I get so melancholy sometimes and have to really stop and remind myself how bad it was and to thank God that I am not there anymore.
