3.25 Mile Walk!
I walked for 3.25 miles today with a speed of 27 minutes a mile. I would say that's pretty damn good for me. Not only did I managed to do a 5k under 90 minutes (my previous record was 93 minutes) and came in at 88 minutes for the whole 3.25 miles. A 5k is 3.1 miles, so I walked even farther with a faster time. I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm trying to get faster and that's what I'm doing! I had to push myself a bit, but it was worth it to see the results. I know I can walk even faster, so I'm going to try and do that the next time I go for a long walk, or a walk at all. The weather here today was beautiful, so I used that as my motivator to go for the long walk. It was about 70 degrees and breezy. It was so nice outside that I didn't want to stay cooped up in bed all day. Well, I did want to stay in bed all day just looking out the window, but I managed to get out and go for my walk instead. I wonder how long it's going to take me to work up to the 10k that I want to walk this year.
Well, I have 2 walking goals for the year. One is to get a 5k in under 60 minutes, and even faster if I can manage, and the second is to walk a 10k. I want to be able to do the Turkey Trot this year, and I don't know if they have a maximum time that you have to walk it in. I can't see them letting me do it if I'm walking at 90 minutes for a 5k, but maybe I can sneak in with 60. I hope to eventually get back to my old speed of about 33 minutes for the 3.1 miles. That's when I was in shape in high school, and running 5k's every week. I know I'm far from that, but I know it's something that I can still do. I'm not too old or anything. I'm still young and fresh, and I can get back to that. I never did a 10k in high school, so completing one will be a huge milestone for me. I know I can do it, there's not a doubt in my mind. If I wanted to, I could probably do one within a month or two, but I'm going to take it a bit slower. What I'm thinking of doing is taking the Spark People's 5k Your Way (the Couch to 5k plan I did before, aka c25k) and just tacking on the distances to my current 5k. So I would have to start out with 4 miles, and work up from there.
Mood today was great! I feel great from the walk, and motivated to go out there and do more. I feel like I am ready to take on the world, walking every step of the way. I can't wait until I'm running again. I think I should try jogging the next time I go for my walk. I know I can go faster, so I should try, right? I need to get new shoes, but I should be able to get them in LA where I know I can get a good pair of running shoes. I'm just feeling so good! I have to be careful that I'm not feeling too good, though. When I was cooking dinner, I lay down for a couple minutes and I was shaking again with energy. I'm not taking my full dose of mood stabilizers because I don't have the full dose. That's the pill that keeps me from going hypomanic. I feel like I'm a tad hypomanic, but I'm also tired at the same time. It's the same pull and tug of moods that I was feeling last year. I think I need to see my psych tomorrow. I was trying to avoid it, but it seems that I can't. Oh well, that's just more money that I need to spend. It sucks, I was trying to save some for my vacation, but I don't have too much money for the trip now. I will just have to spend wisely.
Food today was okay... I was moderate in my calories. I'm a bit under 1,300 but not by much. I don't know how I was so low on calories... I had a doughnut for breakfast, salad for lunch and chicken and dumpling soup for dinner. I ate well today, I just guess that my doughnuts aren't doing me in. I ate one and a half today. I opened a new bag of salad, so I'm going to be enjoying that for the next couple of days. I have to eat it all before I go to LA so it doesn't go bad. Geo won't eat it, since it had carrots in in and he hates raw carrots. I wish you could freeze it, but there's not that much of it. I'm just being a baby about it right now. I love salad, so I don't see why eating a couple of pounds of it in a week is going to be hard. Especially since I can eat a pound of it in a day if I wanted to. Stress today was non-existent, I didn't feel stressed at all today. Sleep today was good... I woke up at noon, with 14 hours of sleep under my belt, but I was sleeping because I wanted to sleep. I woke up at 10am, which would have been with 12 hours of sleep, but I wanted to sleep more since it was cold outside and warm in bed. I had a good nap, and woke up and went for my walk, and that was my day!

Great effort with the walking. Yesterday when I was done with my walk and checking my time and distance I thought \"Hey I am almost as fast as Larissa\" So you have motivated me to walk farther and faster!
