2nd Scrutiny & Last RCIA Session

This past Sunday was the 2nd Scrutiny for the Elect. It was a beautiful service. Now I know what I missed during the 1st Scrutiny.
Those who are going to be baptized at the upcoming Easter Vigil were called up again, along with their sponsors. The Pastor and the RCIA leaders each said a special prayer for each of the Elect. I was so terrified and nervous since I missed the 1st Scrutiny, but my sponsor assured me that everything was fine.
This was also the first time I went to Church without my family. The Mass was so early in the morning, that my husband and I agreed it would be better if he stayed home with the children while I went. I was chosen as one of the people to take up the gifts to the alter. I've seen it done enough times, so I know the procedure. But I got confused and kept trying to go this way when I was supposed to go that way. It's funny how the mind works.
I may have been nervous, but the 2nd Scrutiny was nowhere near how awkward our last RCIA session was. We had a special presentation on the Catholic response to life issues, such as abortion, birth control, euthanasia. The presenter skipped over a lot of material because she felt discussing euthanasia was more important. That presentation stirred up a lot of emotions; not just for me, but for the entire class. There was a couple people who left extremely angry, and then the rest were either in tears or numb.
I couldn't help but feeling guilty about my mother's passing. I didn't find out until some time later that she had passed, but I had no idea she was even ill. The presenter made it seem like I should be holding myself at fault for not actually being there for her in the end. I briefly spoke to my sponsor, and she herself said she didn't have a good feeling about it. I wanted to talk a little more about it--especially since I've been struggling lately--but I didn't want to force the topic. She did bring up an interesting point though...what will be the feedback on Thursday--if any.
