Happy New Year
Hello and Happy New Year to my DS friends!
Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday season. For those of you struggling, I am hoping you survived the holidays ok. It's been a while since I've been on DS but I am slowly coming back after a much-needed hiatus. I want to thank you for the thoughts and the hugs these last few weeks. It's been a tough time but I'm glad the holidays are over and hoping, at the very least, that 2014 is a better year than 2013 was. DH surprised me with a wonderful Christmas gift - an emerald necklace. He knew I wanted to buy a piece of jewelry with our baby's birthstone. He wrote a really beautiful card saying the necklace was not to remind us what we lost and bring any sadness, but to honor our baby and the love, strength and commitment we have to each other. Sometimes I can't believe its been 3 months since our miscarriage. AF arrived yesterday, my third one since the mc.
We are still in limbo and unsure of our next moves. We want to be parents, but we aren't sure how, if, or when. Right now, we are still trying to pick up the pieces from our loss last year, and from the last 3 years of TTC. Its pretty obvious we will never have our own biological children, and until I can really accept this, we are not making any plans or decisions.
We decided after our long, difficult and sad journey, we are treating ourselves to a trip to Paris this April. I've been but DH hasn't and has been wanting to go so we decided, might as well add some more debt to our lives and try and enjoy a romantic week away.
Well that's about it for now. Not really much to say, just wanted to send an update and let you know I am still around and will slowly be catching up with all of you. I think of you all often and always send good thoughts and love your way. xoxo

I am SO EXCITED for you that you are escaping the city - escaping daily life and going to PARIS!!! I never feel more alive and more myself then when I travel to another country! This will be so good for both of you!

We lived a few hours from Paris at our last duty station but I only managed to make it there once. It was a nice time. We drove and it was a crazy driving experience. People in Paris don\'t care how many lanes are painted on the road, they\'ll make as many lanes as they want to get through!!
I will be awaiting new updates.
What a beautiful and thoughtful gift from your DH. I also hope 2014 is a better year for you. Also, I\'m extremely jealous of your trip to Paris!! My in-laws just got back and they loved it. My SIL and her family live in Germany (military) so we are hoping to get over there before they move back. You deserve this trip and so happy that you are going.

Wow. That was so insanely sweet and thoughtful of DH, and what a meaningful and special gift. Take all the time you need to get to where you need to be in order to decide if and what the next step will be. And PARIS! What a wonderful trip to look forward to! I\'m so jealous!
2014 will be better. My hope is that you find peace and make further choices on your journey to parenthood.
