Jeff, I am so sorry for you, for your Donna, for all those who have lost a loved one. My husband slipped away from me in the ER, while they were working on him, he arrested. He never was able to hear me say I love you....your comment: \" It is one of the last things I would have said to you if only I could have. I know you knew it....\" was true for me, too. I wish I could have just one more hour to be able to say a proper good-bye...if there is such a thing.
Guess I should just be happy that he knew I loved him even if I could not say it one last time.

Yes, I think they heard and know. My wife was heavily sedated before they took her off the vent, so she wasn\'t awake either, but I know she heard me.
