You know the hardest part about my job is the fact that I'm around high school kids and young adults all day long. You see how their parents are not taking care of them like the should or the fact that they themselves are young parents. They don't provide for their children like they should. Most of the time if they bring their children in my office they don't mind and have no respect for their parents.
When I was a kid if you didn't mind or disrespected my parents you got spanked. I know a lot of people don't agree with that but honestly we are better for it. We had manners and when we went out we behaved or we faced the consequences when we got home. I love my parents for that and treat my nephews the same way now. In the society we live in they need guidance and direction. The ones that should being doing this is their families! So even though I'm their aunt I'm still responsible to their actions. I would expect anyone of my family members to treat my children the same way in the future.
All of this being said is why I think in the future we will adopt so that we can give another little a chance at a successful, meaningful life. For whatever reason their parents couldn't provide and take care of them the way they deserve to be and what I better gift to a child! Recently I was blessed to have a new co-worker that has really put this into perspective for me. I mean we have adopted cousins in my family but I never thought much about it. They were apart of the family but I never thought about how their lives could of been. Now I see that.
So yes I want my own children and hopefully we will be blessed sooner than later. But I really think I would be happy with one of my own and adopting after that.
