im mad! matt called me and we got to talk for a little while but his platoon leader was saying get off the phone! Why cant i get just a little time to freakin talk to him?!?!?!?!??! i bet mr. platoon leader gets all the time he wants on the phone! why is the army so mean for?!?!?!?!? whats wrong with being able to have a freakin 1hr conversation without any interruptions!?!?!?!? thats all i want! i just want to talk to him for an hour w/o people yelling in the backround for him to get off the phone b/c when people start yelling he looses his train of thought and it gets so frustrating b/c i have to keep repeating myself! GRRR!!! and that cuts into conversation time when i have to keep repeating myself. and then i feel bad b/c he starts talking softer like hes trying to hide the fact that he isnt off the phone yet and then i cant hear him and so he has to keep repeating his self. it always feels like he is so rushed on the phone. i dont feel like i get a real conversation. i feel like sometimes hes not listening to me b/c he has to listen to the people yelling in th ebackround. im not mad at him. i know he cant help it but the whole situaton drives me crazy!!! UUUGGG!!!!

Well I hate to break it to you but you should consider yourself lucky. Most people during basic training don\'t get too many phone calls. Brian got to call me 3 times and all 3 were 15 mintunes or shorter. It isn\'t the platoon leader\'s fault he is just obeying the next guy above him. The Army isn\'t mean, they are training \'soldiers\'. You have to keep that in mind. He is there for a reason. You know? I understand that it is frustrating but you have to keep your head up and keep steppin on. Hang in there!! :)
Say the long stuff in your letters. Just appreciate the sound of his voice and give as many \"I love you\"\'s as you can when he gets to call. I know it sucks, but it\'s just something they all have to go through. Don\'t let yourself get all worked up, because it\'s not going to change the facts and, in the end, you\'ll just be upset.
I understand your frustration but I can only tell you it will get worse. Once he goes overseas there will be a delay with almost every word you say most of the time. Then the phone will hang up on you and you may not talk to him again for weeks. The Army is difficult. It is important that you stand by him and the Army because that is the life he chose to stand by. I wish you better conversations and peace. This life is difficult to ajust to but you will.
