Worried
Since I've moved to my own place I've put my grandparents' house up for sale. Before my mom died she told each of my sisters that she wanted for me to be able to live in the house. She knew I'd have nowhere else to go. She had a lawyer send out quit claim deeds, which 2 signed. She also signed her deed over to me. She told me if and when I moved out and sold the house to give the girls their portion. She just wanted to protect me.
When she died I knew they resented me. I never heard the end of how I was living in their house and they were being nice to me letting me live there. They were ignorant of the fact that mom had set it up to where as long as I lived there they couldn't kick me out. A few months ago I asked my lawyer about changing the deed to all of my sisters and my name, since I no longer lived there, to carry out my moms and grandparents wishes. He said if I didn't change the deed that if something happened to me they could lose their interest in the house. I paid to have the deed changed.
So, on my disability income I've been paying close to $100 per month for the vacancy homeowners insurance. I spoke to one sister who told me that at this point I shouldn't have to pay it all by myself. I was glad she agreed with me. I contacted my sister who is handling my dads estate and asked if the insurance payment could be taken out of the rental income from my dads house. That way we'd each be paying our 5th, not just me. After that I received an angry e-mail from the first sister basically telling me that she understands that it takes from my income but she and the other sis's have kids and families and that I never had a mortgage payment when I lived there and they really don't need another bill. Why did she tell me that I should have to pay it all by myself and then turn? Of course she forwarded this to my other sis who sent me an e-mail asking "Did you get Kim's e-mail?" They're all the family I've got left. I've done nothing wrong. I paid to have the deed put into their names after I no longer lived there but they're angry. They're going to get their 5th of the sale of the house, but they're angry. The only person that ever really loved me was my mom. She's gone now. So, really, I don't have any family left.
