Rant
Quick warning: there is some cussing in this post, so if you don't like to read that feel free to skip.
Okay, so we all know what it's like to hurt all the time, be exhausted all the time, and have migraines almost all the time. But what about getting angry all the time? Well, okay, not all the time. But this morning someone really pushed a button for me. I normally don't post about my health on facebook. Despite all the security settings I have, I firmly believe that if people try hard enough they can see what I post there. So I typically avoid the gory details of CFS/Fibro/Migraines on there. But yesterday I posted a short bit about being off fb for a week b/c of the pain. I mentioned the week-long migraine. Lots of support from my close friends, but...
then I get a private message from a woman I used to see sometimes. We sold jewelry for a direct selling party company together, but that's the extent of our connection. She sends me a message about how she's sorry to hear about my pain, she knows what it's like, and oh by the way she's found this awesome thing that works wonders. Oh, she knows that we're all skeptical, but this one really works! No, she doesn't tell me what it is, but asks me to call her "when it's a good time." WTF? It is quite obvious that she is preying on me as someone she can sell something to. (The party company we worked for recently closed, so she's probably selling something new now.)
I am enraged! How much opportunistic jack-assery can one person practice? Please pardon my cussing here, but it makes me angry when someone puts down folks with invisible illnesses. It makes me furious beyond measure when someone preys on us. Like we are nothing more than a quick check for their pocketbook and they use us to try to make money. Give me a break. She has now been regulated to my "Acquaintances" list, which does not see most of what I post anyway.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is, at best, very poor form and rude, and at worst grade A jack-assery?

Nope, that\'s grade A jack-assery. Screw dowgrading her to acquaintance; unfriend her immediately!
Yes, I know the rage, but those people are out there, they\'ll (probably) never change, and they\'re toxic to our emotional health and thereby our whole well-being. BUT once we put them out of our minds, they no longer have any power over us. Just because they\'re a$$holes doesn\'t change you at all.
You can also publicize her on suitable sites, like this one, as being a lying, cheating, uncaring bitch who doesn\'t care who she steals from -- Yes, I said \"steals from\" -- I think preying on the desperately sick is stealing.
Oh, dear, you set me off....
Oops... I forgot \"slimy\" and \"snake\".
I agree, Jack, it IS stealing. I had another \"friend\" do this to me and I did unfriend her. This one I actually liked. For the most part she\'s really nice, but this just set me off. I regulate her to acquaintance for now. Then I decide 24 hours later if I want to unfriend her entirely. I don\'t like to make hasty decisions when I\'m angry.
That is horrible! I wish I could say that I\'ve never had that experience, but I know lots of people who have the \"solution\" to my CFS. Fun, fun! What\'s ridiculous is that she is so clueless that she probably thinks she was doing you some kind of \"favor.\" So opportunistic! I\'m sorry this happened to you. You did the right thing to put her in acquaintances. Get it out! Scream and hit things (that don\'t break). It\'s so frustrating.
It really is. thanks for joining the yelling bandwagon, y\'all. I love Carrie, but sheesh. She has no clue what I\'m going through. I don\'t mind when friends try to help (have you tried XX?) once in awhile. But this was so...selfish. That\'s the best word for it that I can think of. Well, that an opportunistic jackassery.
