had  to do a little research and this is what I found, they gave me compazine at the hospital yesterday they said it helped with neuropathic pain.....Prochlorperazine (marketed under the names Compazine, Buccastem, Stemetil, Phenotil) is a drug that belongs to the phenothiazine class that is used for the treatment of nausea and vertigo. It is also a typical antipsychotic drug and a highly potent neuroleptic, 10 to 20 times more potent than chlorpromazine. In Pakistan, it is marketed under the name Phenotil by Unexo Labs.looked up complicated migraine and found this.....I am a 32 year old female. I have not yet been diagnosed conclusively. Progression of symptoms and tests:day 1 - numbness on tips of fingers (4th and 5th) on right hand, lasts 5 mins, 2x that dayday 2 - numbness spreads to back of handday 3 - numbness spreads to outer arm, face, some parts of torso and outer lower leg, all on right side. Have hyperventilation episode, go to ER. Tests: CT-scan, blood, MRI. CT-scan is normal. Blood low potassium, nothing else. MRI results are normal, although they detect a small nonspecific focus of high FLAIR/T2 signal is seen in the right external capsule. Since stroke is ruled out, I am released. Neurologists diagnose a complicated migraine (even though symptoms appear after a migraine, and not before as is more common). They say numbness I still feel is residual and should go away in a couple of days.day 7 - still experiencing numbness which is new (not residual), although not in new locations. Right eye seems blurry, although if I blink a bit it's fine.day 8-10 - symptoms slowly go awayday 11 - wake up with small area of numbness on my LEFT cheek.Also: no balance problems, weakness, dizziness, nor pain. History of migraines, but never with aura. History of dizziness 4 years ago (lasted 6 months, resolved when I went on bc pill).If this is truly related to a migraine, shouldn't it be resolved by now (and not switching sides of my body), and shouldn't I have no more new episodes of numbness?Could this be early ms?Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I see a neurologist in 2 weeks. CCF-Neuro-M.D.-PW05/31/05  MS is far too early to diagnose, as you have only had one episode (even new symptoms within 4 weeks of the old is considered one episode in MS terms), and without the support of other positive tests like Cerebrospinal fluid, or MRI, does not indicate that you have MS at this timealthough I only have the above information to work on, your story sounds like the 'spreading neuronal deppression' typical for complex migraine. Its like a wave of decreasing/altered neuron activity that spreads over the surface of the brain over hours to days. This is related to butnot defined as an aura, so can persist beyond the aura or headache phase. It can also persist for up to several weeks in some cases, but typically disappears in a hours to days. The treatment is to tackle the underlying migraine, which you should continue to see your doctors/neurologist for.
