2016 - going strong

Boy, it's been a while, a wild ride through the holidays with drama, heart ache, and some stress. But, certainly some wonderful times with family and friends. I'm really glad it's over. The day after Christmas I recycled all the cards, put it away all the decorations, and took down the tree. Moving on. I am feeling strong with my sobriety and with my thinking, insights and commitment to myself. Last night I took a bath and drew a picture that I want to paint. I am committing to creativity and feeding my soul . Last week, I was out to dinner with my daughter and her friend. I had tea and as I was sitting there I had an observation of the way it used to be, when we would be out to dinner. Always a glass of wine or a Cosmo or something . I thought to myself, what was I thinking? All these years of modeling this behavior of drinking and then driving in front of my children. Now it seems completely normal to not drink completely normal to not drink and totally wrong and inappropriate to be doing it with my children and then driving them in the car in addition to many other things. Time to do some reading and get to bed early tomorrow is day three of the gym this week. Rock it out people.

I understand where your coming from when you talk about dinner with your kids and how it used to be. I was not a good role model either. Today is a new day. Glad your here sharing your journey wit me.

Beautiful journal entry and wonderful to hear how sobriety is opening up a new level of awareness and mindfulness. I also had regrets about the role model I was to my daughter, but finally accepted that I have little control over the past. We can only work on today, and that\'s okay. Thanks for sharing. You made my day!
