2 Months Into the Game
Marlow is 2 months old now. I don't know how I feel anymore.I love her, to bits, but she is a cryer. Nothing seems to make her happy. She fusses relentlessley, and when I can't take it anymore I pick her up and usually she stops. Now there are people everywhere telling me that I spoiled her and that she is a holdy baby and that it's all my fault. Maybe she is and maybe it is my fault. But they don't spend all day everyday with this little bundle of screaming. And to make matters worse, when I already feel like I'm not good enough for my little girl, my doctor refuses to give me a pill to increase milk supply and I have dried up. Forcing me to put her on formula. That stuff is so poor in every aspect compared to breast milk. And I have to listen to my mother in law rant about how she told me that Marlow wasn't getting enough food, and I should of started formula earlier.I made it 2 months, and she was putting on weight. Bullshit I wasn't producing enough!I just sort of feel like maybe I'm going through an identity crisis. Who am I anymore? I don't feel like the old me, but it seems like I can't find a new me....

Oh what the newbaby books don\'t tell you!!! This is something that I wish, wish, wish somebody would have had the guts to tell me while i was pregnant. That even though you love your baby, it is very, very hard to be a new mom in more ways than one. It sounds to me like it is more and more common to feel this way. I went through it, for a long time and felt very bad talking about it to anybody because it was such a struggle for me to have my little girl and I didn\'t want anybody to think I was ungratful or a bad mom. I quit my full time job to be a stay at home mom and there was many times in the beginning that I wondered if I had done the right thing. Being used to being around adults all day at work and having many friends and then suddenly being trapped at home all day with a fussy, crying baby was very, very hard. To make it all worse being a first time mom and being unconfident in myself as a parent added to my feelings of isolation and loneliness. She would cry, i would cry, it became a vicious cycle. But let me tell you that it does get better. And i think it only continues to get better. Once your baby is a little bit older and more interactive with you it becomes a lot more fun. I think my turning point into the positive was when she was about 4 months old. Once they can start playing with toys it becomes easier. As far as you feeling lost and trying to find yourself, be patient and realize you will find yourself and feel normal once again. And you may like the new you better than the old you!!
Hi! I am a nurse and childbirth educator. Do you think the baby has colic? The crying can be really stressful! Try to get out every day to walk with her.
Have you tried a sling? Carrying the baby in a sling can cut down on crying a lot. You can find patterns for them on the web. My niece made one for $5. A lot of time crying is worse in the evening so if you can plan supper in the morning,a crockpot or casserole thing that you can put together in the morning and just pop in the oven, and get it all done then you are not having to do so much in the evening and can concentrate on her. Try to have 5 minute dates with your fiance if the baby takes up most of your time. like put the baby in its seat in the bathroom and take a shower together. Play your favorite song and slow dance before you go to bed. Just stuff like that can really make a difference. Glad you are coming to the site to share. The good thing about colic is that it usually decreases between 12-16 weeks. There is an end, although it can seem like forever when you are in it.
