1st MeetUp - J4

Hi All,

So tonight I went to my first MeetUp. It went alright, but it wasn't so much for meeting people as it was supporting a commuity cause. It's a great cause though - wildlife support, and I love all kinds of critters. The other slight problem with this MeetUp group is that most of the attendees are much older than me. I love meeting and interacting with people of all ages, but I was hoping to make close friendships with women nearer to my age so we can share similar things in common. I really want to find a bestie or a couple of causal friends that would like to have lunch/coffee, go to movies, go shopping ect. It is so hard not having a female friendship in my life. My only social outlet is my neices (who have recently moved out of town), my older brother who I tag along with to his band gigs, and my boyfriend who lives on the opposite side of (a very large) town - and workes very long hours. It's not fair to my boyfriend that he's my only social connection either. I'm actually a little jealous of him. He has good friendships, some from collage and others from work. He gets together every two weeks with the guys from work to spend the afternoon lunching and drinking beer. Other times he goes to movies and concerts with them. Then there's his collage bestfriend that he talks with on the phone a few times a week. I didn't really realize that guys talk about their lives with eachother in the same way that girls do - at least these guys do! I would LOVE to have a girlfriend to chat with over the phone and laugh with. I feel like such a loser for not having any friendships. It doesn't help that I'm unemployed either - that is hard to deal with when trying to make friends as that's always everyones first question - "What do you do?" Now to be fair to myself I am trying very hard to find a good job. I want very much to find a job that I can support myself on - full time, living wage. It's very hard, especially without a degree. Ok, I'm problably going to start rambling if I try to keep writing now. Sometimes my thoughts get so overwhelming and scattered. I hope everyone is doing ok tonight.
