One day at a time

When my son Toby passed away I was amazed to find out how many friends he had that truly loved him - I had no idea.
They gave me a red book in which they had written memories and stories, and pasted in photos and mementos. I have found it so painful to read, but this morning I picked it up and noticed some lyrics from a song that one of his friends had written and they really 'spoke' to me so I thought I would share them with my friends.
i need you to be the strength of widows and soul survivorsi need you to be as fearless as new mothers and new fathersi need you to be the hope of hearts who lost true lovei need you to be the might of their first kissi need a purpose and i need a reasoni need to know that there is trophy and meaningto all that we lose and all we fight forto all our loves and our warskeep breathingkeep livingkeep searchingkeep pushing onkeep bleedingkeep healingkeep fadingkeep shining onthis is for the hearts still beating
I really feel these words have a lot of meaning for us survivors, we are the hearts that keep beating and we need to find inner strength from the depths of our being that we never, ever imagined we would have.
This is a true test for us, and there is no pass of fail, but we will get a gold medal for giving this fight every ounce of our strenght from every fibre of our being. We owe it to our friends, our family and we owe it to our loved on who has left us.
Be strong as you can be today and i hope these words inspire you as they inspired me this morning.

I like the idea of a book \"a tribute to Toby\" I need to write one for my grandson, about his DAD.
Heres to strength, I really need a big dose...

I love these words, Anne,....I did not apply them, however, to me...I was reading them for Brandon, wishing......the line that struck me most for him was, \" I need you to be the hope of hearts that lost true love\"....when I read that I thought of his marital struggles that would eventually prove to be too much....and that the true love was always a mother\'s love....his true family\'s love...

Every word of that poem (song) has depth and truth....if someone you know wrote that please tell them for me how much it meant. Brandon would have loved it.....and I bet Toby would have. too. Thank you for sharing that with us even though I know how painful it was to read them again....I pray for you , my friend....love, dale...brandon\'s mom

Quite impressive and special that Toby\'s friends created this wonderful book for you, and included such a touching and inspiring song. I learned a lot about my son through some of the eulogies his friends wrote for his funeral. We heard some never before shared zany stories--hope you got a few of those in the \"red book.\" It helps to have a few of those to laugh about on the tougher days... Hugs, Cherie
