An update
Ok, so today I heard from the VA's psychologist who did my evaluation. He NOW claims that there are SEVERAL people on staff who CAN treat me - they've got the training, etc. to handle my case. Suppossedly, someone will call me later this week or early next week to tell me who I have been assigned to and set things up for my first session.
So,.... either he lied to me when he saw me, or he's lying to me now, because people can't go from zero knowledge to trained, licensed and experienced in a week.
*sigh* My original therapist is urging me to give them the benefit of the doubt - but also, if they really are NOT capable of treating me, to SPEAK UP and PROTEST this until the VA either DOES get someone capable, or sends me to an outside provider who is.
Who knows? maybe they brought in some new psychologists just to treat me and the 2 other Transgender veterans I have heard rumor of in the area. I doubt it. But maybe, maybe, THIS time they really ARE trying to do the right thing. Somehow, I can't believe it's going to happen. But I'll try to give them a chance.
Meanwhile, my original therapist is setting up a support group, and invited me to join it. I'm thinking I will.
