Tues. Night:   Today was a bit better but my knee is very bruised.  My student got the rest of the week out for tripping me.  I can't hold it against him.  He is autistic and has his moments.  He knew what he was doing but he is so impulsive he just didn't think it through.  One of  Scott's friends came by on Sun.  I hadn't seen him since the visitation.  Adam took him to the cemetery and he took it really hard.  Scott's friend, with the baby, is becoming a frequent visitor.  Adam's girlfriend, Melissa, is still in the hospital but is supposed to come home tomorrow.  I got my evaluation at work today.  I was very flattered as the principal gave me top marks on everything and told me he wished there was a place for "exceeds expectations".  I just love my job so it is easy.  Still, it was nice to be noticed and told.  We only had 3 students today so that was a nice break after yesterday.  It was an easy work day.  Tomorrow I think we are taking another trip to the park.  No cook-out this time, just sack lunches.  I actually prefer that as it is much easier.  My adopted sister called last night.  I haven't seen her in about 19 years but we mail eachother sometimes and she calls once in a while.  Anyway, she told me she is getting "married" on the 17th of May and wants me to be there.  I just, about 1 year ago, found out she is gay.  She has been with her partner for 16 yrs. and the marriage will only be symbolic as it is not recognized as legal in Okla.   It wasn't really a shock when she told me she was gay.  I think I knew she would be before she even knew what that was.  She was always more comfortable under the hood of a car, playing baseball, fishing, etc. than she was "girlie" things.  I don't really care because she is a nice person & it doesn't effect my life.  However, I don't know about attending the event.  It has been so long since I have seen her, I don't know if I would be comfortable or not as I have never really been "up close" with any gay couple,  and my step-mother will be there.  I have not seen her since 1984 when my Dad passed away.  She is not a nice person.  Very phony.  That's the way she was then, anyway.  But, that was a long time ago.  I just don't know if I have the energy for all this.  I will appreciate any input on any of this.  I do know I will not commit to anything one way or the other until the last moment.  But that, has nothing to do with this.  I am invited to one of my friends graduation party the same day.  She is 46 and just got her teaching degree.  I couldn't even commit to that yet and that invitation came 1st.  I have to wait until the last minute for just about everything because the decision is mood and energy based.  I am rambling, I think.  Time for bed.

I am sorry to hear about your knee. I hope your feeling better soon. As far as your invitations go when they have come up for me i just do what is best for me. If your not comfortable going then don\'t. You shouldn\'t put yourself in any situation that is going to cause you emotions that are going to bring up more emotions once there. Then once you leave you will just fall apart and cry. So if you need to wait until the last minute and decide then do that. If you get there and can\'t go through with it, leave. You do whats best for you now. You have alot on your plate now and thats all that matters right now. much love, sheri

Read your journal and just wanted to say that I have a cousin whose daughter(would that make her my second cousin? I always get confused with these things) just had a ceremony with her companion in Alaska last year and this year they are having a baby. I am thrilled for her but my family has all sorts of mixed reactions. Her mother is thrilled for her but her father is not taking it well. He doesn\'t like the idea at all. I am glad I live in Massachusetts where it is legal for marriage. Why shouldn\'t gay people have all the rights to the joys and disappoints of marriage as anyone else? Here you can even get divorced if you are gay. To my mind gay people aren\'t any different from anyone else and what goes on in the bedroom is the couples business and no one else\'s. I am sure that the stepmother thing complicates the issue. Do what you think is right. You should be yourself. Good luck to you.

I have no thoughts either way. I have no problem with it but as you say it depends on the energy level. Give it to God and listen and he\'ll tell you what to do. Sorry about the knee. Congrats on the evaluation, it\'s always nice to know what you do is actually noticed and appreciated. Love and hugs Cathy

I guess you must decide what your beliefs are in regards to your sister. I love my brother, but I do not want anything to do with his lifestyle. So we keep that seperate from our relationship. And it works for us. Also, if you cannot handle a possible stressful situation, then you shouldn\'t go. Its a very personal choice. If you don\'t have a problem with her choices, then you will get to see her. There will be a lot of other gay people there also. I don\'t know if any of this helps.
Love Joanne
