Sunday, 12-16-07: I made it through another weekend. It has been different. Today a couple of my good friends came over bearing gifts and we spent 1 1/2 hours in the hot tub. We were melted. It is cold here, though, so it felt good. Yesterday I finished decorating and even dusted the living room. I will dust again when I un-decorate and then my bunnies will start growing again. It has been a major effort to pull this holiday stuff off. I have one more gift to buy and I will be done. It is a much smaller Christmas here than usual. First, there is little money for it. And second, my heart just is not into it. It is a struggle to go into the stores, hear the music, see the happy kids, (I don't mean I want them unhappy) and hear the Merry Christmas &/or Happy Holidays from the clerks. It is not merry nor is it happy. I am very sad. I miss my Scott more than words can express. For a little bit I thought I was doing better. I am not. I am just different. My father-in-law came over for stew yesterday. He cried. In 25 years I have seen that happen 2 times. He misses Scott so much. He is 86. He said Scott was the first of his grandchildren to ever say I love you to him. His wife, my mother-in-law, passed away in July 2006. They had been married 64 years. I think the grief he has for Scott is even greater. Anyway, it was good he cried and good he talked. We have not talked about the day Scott died until now. He was the last person Scott spoke to. They had plans to plant a tree that morning when Scott called him and told him he had a headache but would be over later in the day to help. I think Scott's organs were already shutting down, and had been, as the day before he died he was having chest pains and difficulty breathing. If only I had known what was happening. I go over that day every day. I hate it. I will never forget it.

I\'m glad you had a chance to relax with some friends this weekend. Those not-so-bad times are like little treasures to us and so important. I can relate to feeling \"different\" now. I know I am, just haven\'t figured out how to live this different persons life yet. Ginger, I\'m thinking about you and will pray that you find a little peace through the holiday. *Hug* Adrianne
None of us will ever forget. I know how hard the holidays are. I haven\'t done anything except get a small tree to be able to put my older son\'s presents under. That is it. Just not into this year maybe next. Lots of hugs, jake\'s mom, kathy
We lost my Dad in 1999, he and my mom were married for 37 years. They had been together since she was 13 years old. He was the only man she ever loved. She says that the pain of lossing Melissa still hurts more. I think for grandparents it\'s the age and they know that our angels were taken way before their time. They bargain with God to get them back and take them. Because thats the natural order of things, or it\'s suppose to be. I\'m glad that he cried and talked to you, it would destroy him if he didn\'t. Take care, Love and Hugs.
My Dad died on the same day my Chris did, only 16 years earlier-Chris was the love of his life too-he only lived to see Chris reach the age of 6-now I think they are together again-these holidays are hard and it is so hard to hear the laughter and joy when we don\'t feel it-also hard to stop your mind from all the what-ifs but truly you did the best you knew to do and probably could not have stopped what was happening-but of course we want to believe we could-we fixed their boo boos when they were little, why couldn\'t we fix this? But of course we are only human too. I am sure Scott knows that you did all you knew to do-he is with you over these holidays and I know he will put his protection over you, Love, Sandy
Our sons died at about the same time. Today I went over Greg\'s autopsy report with my doctor, but I didn\'t cry which is a milestone for me. I know we will see our sons again. Till then, I am determined to lead a life with meaning. I will pray that you can do the same. Rita
I know how hard it is to see the smiling faces and happy families. Like you, I want them to be that way and hope they never join this club. We are different but one day and that day seems forever away but one day the sun will shine and we will find some joy in life again. Until then I try to remember that one doesn\'t have to be present to be present in our hearts. Keep you son in your heart always. You will see him again. Love Robin
We all understand the saddness of this season so well. You seem to be doing much better than me. I opted out of doing almost ALL the Christmas things this year. Couldn\'t face the decorations or the shopping. Hang in there - we all have to just keep trying.
It\'s not your fault and you could not have changed the outcome, let it be and give yourself a break. You are neither a fortune teller or a mind reader. You couldn\'t have known, you weren\'t meant to. I know I sound harsh but you need to be kind to yourself and you are not different, we do feel better and then worse and then hopefully better again. The road always seems to be three forward and two back, progress is so slow but that\'s just the way it is. We can only do what we can do. You have far surpassed me, my tree isn\'t up and if you\'re looking for dust bunnies, there are none under my couch, LoL. We will find a way and we will have meaning to our lives, just be patient with yourself and kind to yourself. There is nothing harder you will ever do than mourn your child. Hold on things will ease up. Love and hugs Cathy
You are an understanding and caring person. No one should expect to be happy right now. I dealt shopping by ordering everything off the internet, but I can\'t make myself wrap them. It\'s good you have friend there to help you through such a tough time. Thanks for being such wonderful support to me. Best wishes Kelley
