It is Thanksgiving Eve and I am a mixture of emotions.  I made a nice ham dinner tonight.  Adam (20), my husband, and I had a nice, quiet meal.  Then I cooked ham and beans for Thanksgiving dinner as we are having the traditional fare at Craig's sisters house at noon.  I also made a Gooey Butter Cake which is all of my families favorite.  Especially Scott.  He wasn't much of a sweet eater but when it came to that......  I told my family that was the only traditional (ours) food I would make this year.  I also chopped up some ham for a yummy ham/cheese /potato casserole for Friday.  I am trying to prepare so I don't have to worry about food this holiday weekend.  We will alternate leftovers.  The other night I prayed to Scott to please, somehow, let me know he was ok.  I then prayed to God to help us on many levels.  I don't know for sure about Scott but I did find out stuff from our Dr. and I did get inspiration at the Compassionate Friends meeting.  Maybe...  Today, I got a call from the insurance company and they are going to pay.  I should get a check next week.  Now, I can pay us back for Scott's funeral. (It has been very scary financially. Especially with taxes right around the corner.) But more than that, I can get a headstone for him before Christmas.  I have HATED not having a headstone for him although there are always flowers and other decorations there.  I am constantly taking something.  His friends do, too.  I dread tomorrow and hopefully my imagination is much worse than the reality.  But, I have already done the hardest thing I will ever do so.......I CAN DO THIS!

Yes you can do this! You are right, we\'ve already done the hardest thing that could be asked of us. I am so thrilled that you will now be able to get a headstone for your son. Ours was delivered last week and is at the cemetary waiting to be put in. I have many mixed emotions as I haven\'t seen the final product. I want it there to honor my boy but so aprehensive of the finality of all of it. But it is final and nothing can change the past. We must continue to go forward and keep our precious boys in our hearts. Thinking of you. Love Robin

ginger i\'m happy you are getting scott\'s headstone soon.i got justin\'s maybe 2 months after he died i wanted it as soon as possible because i would go there and there was nothing there.be prepared when you go the first time.when i went it brought me to my knees just seeing his name and birthday i knew then it was really true its hard standing there looking down and seeing his precios name.i go now 2 or 3 times a week i clean it everytime i go. i took a angel there last time i went he had given it to me september 2002,i have angels all over my house mostly from justin he knew i loved angels.justin\'s headstone wasn\'t fancy didn\'t have much money after paying for funeral.but i did put, son, brother and father.i also got a vase put in so he can always have flowers we had to get a flat headstone thats what the cematary requires. if you put flowers on his grave they remove them when they mow.enjoy your day.love,jfm24,vicki
