(sigh)...
Dear DS diary,
This unprecedented snow siege in New England -- National Weather Service wording, not mine -- has finally pushed me past my breaking point. There's no place for us to put any more snow, and we're in the crosshairs for what is expected to be a foot more by the time this storm, which just started about 45 minutes ago, goes away. And forecasters are concerned about yet another system for the middle of next week.
Normally I don't complain about snow nearly as much as I do ice, but this time it's different because we've gotten six feet plus in three calendar weeks with nary a legitimate chance for any melting...which we've been warned likely won't start in earnest until March.
I've had to cancel most of my appointments in that span because either the roads have been impassable or there is no safe place for anybody to put their cars.
The stress of it all -- it's more than I can take -- has brought my job search activity and 5K training to a dead halt. The momentum on them was not great anyway, but this time we're talking "it's going to take a lot to get just one of those, never mind both, going again".
So I guess it shouldn't have been a major surprise that I had another of my class-A hiding episodes this week, playing through the Game Boy version of Kirby's Dream Land at Retro Uprising (it's a site I sometimes frequent where you can play emulated versions of tons of games from the '80s and '90s primarily). What's really troubling about it is that I was playing it to beat it, which is bad in itself because that means I could, if I wanted to, play for hours on end (yes, I've done this) and not give a damn about anything else.
This time I got away with it...this is a game that I've beaten before, so it was a matter of remembering how as I went. I kept screwing up with the keyboard controls, too. But finish I did, with no continues, in about 40 minutes. And the referees at RU verified it as a legitimate clear last night, opening the door for me to post my sloppy-but-still-happy-ending play to the Tube eventually.
My concern is that I'm so much at the end of my wits it's very possible that an episode like this will happen again very soon, and I won't be so lucky....
...(sigh)...
...I'm just in such a scared and stressed-out place right now, it's not funny.
