Dear DS diary,
My sister successfully closed the sale on her new house the other day. She wanted us to see it yesterday, so we went and saw the place. It's actually not bad at all -- although I wish I had photos to prove it for everyone -- and it's not far out of the way from where she teaches at a technical school that's about a half hour away.
But otherwise not only did I really not have any comments on it, but the day generally was an emotional disaster. Unfamiliar anything doesn't get along with me, in no small part because I am predisposed to the notion that people will only hurt...and yes, this even though I know my sister and her husband are absolutely not like that if you don't tick them off. It felt a lot worse this time because we went to Outback Steakhouse after seeing the house, a place where I've never been...which only made my "I want out of here" feelings worse. I don't think I had a smile on my face the entire time.
I guess we can make the argument that perhaps I should have contacted one of my friends and tried to arrange a live chat somewhere, but somehow I knew...no amount of talking was going to make this any more bearable. In fact I knew a stress eating episode was coming (and it did).
The avoidance behavior is getting worse, too...can't really explain why, but right now I have a serious confidence crisis going on with both my resume and the study guide, so it's almost a blessing that with the US Independence Day holiday looming this week at the pharmacy is going to be crazy. I practically need those two things blocked out for as long as possible.
Because at the moment, this is basically going nowhere.
