Today I am essentially on my own.  My sister is the music director of a technical high school in Westford (Nashoba Valley Technical High School), and her students are putting on a concert tonight that will involve some band and chorus performances.
My parents would take me but getting onto and through Route 495 is a nightmare during the rush hour, and so they're leaving early and getting some dinner beforehand.  Early enough to block me out of this, because I have a schedule conflict (a class) with their leaving time.  It will just be me and my pet cockatiel when I come home for a few hours.
These tend to be good concerts for a music program that's barely three young, so the normal thing would be for me to be sad that I'm missing this.  Instead, I don't know what to think tonight.
My comfort level doesn't feel too good right now...in that respect you can argue plausibly that I still haven't gotten over the bombings yet.  I'd like to see this show but I don't feel like I can handle the audience of 100-150 that's being expected tonight.  I think I would sooner run for the hills.
It's not helping that I'm getting sick of new stories come out of this Boston mess, and yesterday I got no help from my supervisor at work.  He has a habit of looking at the news from non-domestic sites during lunch, and uncovered a news story yesterday that some evidence related to the bombing had been found in a landfill in New Bedford.  What got his attention was the landfill's name: Crapo Hill.
Most of the other staff laughed at the odd name.  But all I could say was: "I want to move to Canada."
And I kinda wish I could.

Oh, my friend...first of all, PLEASE stop watching the news. There is so much crazy info out there, half of which isn\'t even true. Every news outlet wants to put a new spin on this story, and will do anything to do so..true or not. Much of it isn\'t even confirmed.
I am sorry you couldn\'t make it to your sister\'s concert. I understand, given the crowds, but disappointing, I am sure. Maybe you can pass the evening watching a funny movie..it may lift your spirits.
Do you really think Canada will be much better???

pink, I guess the point of that comment was to try to demonstrate, without being a pain in the (cuckoo), that I am totally sick of hearing about this stuff. The reality is that I do doubt that Canada would be that much better, but I\'m frustrated by some of this exposure that isn\'t exactly voluntary.

I do have a Netflix account, but I tend to be a documentary type...maybe that\'s a post for the Fun and Games section on the depression boards, ask if anyone knows anything silly on the movie front.
