I actually don't have a lot I want to say today but I feel a need to bump my last journal entry down:
Today things finally dried out enough to finish cleaning up from the hurricane last week.  Here in my hometown of Melrose we were lucky; a few trees went down and we lost power briefly last Monday, but we didn't anywhere near the damage of other regions (so fortunate not to be living in NYC or New Jersey right now).
Somehow my dad got the not-so-brilliant idea of vacuuming the gutters.  I say not so brilliant because we have to use extension pieces that reach up a good 30 feet at the highest point and his vacuum had already broken a caster so it only had three wheels.  And he's a pissy sort, doesn't take aggravations well, and swears like a sailor (if anybody wants to know why I have an occasional potty mouth, there you go.)  We managed to finish but not before I broke down in front of him.
Mowed the lawn, bagging it, to get all the leaves that have fallen.  I must have filled the bag of the mower seven (!) times, dumping it into my back garden.  Right now said garden is more of a waste heap.  But that's okay because nothing is growing there now.

Sounds like you had a productive morning. And I am pleased to see that you \'re getting back to normal after the storm. xxx
