Saw Sara this morning to talk about what the situation is on campus. The meeting lasted lasted all of 10 minutes; she could see in my eyes that I have issues deep enough that severely limit who I am willing to work with, and that the people I would feel comfortable working with are inaccessible. I didn't even have to say that my comfort level is with females only (she could tell right away). We both saw there was no point in discussing it further -- in effect all of my on-campus options have been used up or otherwise proven unworkable because of my issues -- and so we left it at that. Sara's an academic counselor, not a psychology-oriented counselor. Makes a big difference.
I hate putting pressure on ScaredandScarred but that's basically what this does. She's all I have left. The recommendation was for me to bail out now, but I can tell you I just don't feel I can do that and expect to be able to still have my part-time job next semester, which matters because I still feel that both of my path options have to be protected at any cost.
The only reason why I haven't gotten a warning grade is only reinforcing the people issues: The prof is apparently putting so little stock in the labs that he only wants at a maximum three lab reports. I thought I'd potentially be out 100 points on that; now it looks like the max loss is only 30. But I don't feel good about that because for once my heart and my head agree: This gives me little if any incentive to break down my walls, so on the whole the odds favor the current pattern only perpetuating itself.

I am sorry to hear this friend...I wish I knew what to say...offering a hug, as always, and here if you need or want to talk...all I can think of is that even though your head and heart are agreeing, part of you knows that it\'s the WRONG thing to agree on, you know? Somehow it has to go...easier said than done...big hugs to you and peace
Basically, Summer, they agree that this is totally wrong but the prof, who apparently is as idiotic as I feared, is just finding ways to help this crap float. The question is obviously what do we do about this, and right now there are no answers, only complicators, which just totally blows.
Obviously Skype is starting to look like a really big step that MUST (not needs, must) be taken...but once that\'s comfortable, how do I get guys involved (which would appear to be the next step)?
A lot of questions, no real answers that make any sense. I just conceded what happened to my advisor and what it effectively implicates; I\'m not sure I want to hear back from her (is there anything that you can really say?).
Hey it\'s no pressure at all!!! I enjoy helping!!
