Today was chemistry exam #1. I was as ready as I could hope to be, but since it took too long to actually find a study buddy (you know who you are), it wasn't anywhere near ready enough. I even conceded to her that I probably lost 10-15 points because my search for tutoring was a road to nowhere until the hole was too deep.
I conceded to Joanna at the start that since I couldn't find help until it was too late I would be happy with a 75 point (of 100) showing. Well...I kinda time-overed on the stuff that went over my head, so it probably didn't even score to that level. Maybe after I finish my chapter 3 notes and get the rest of my questions answered that result from it I'll go back because it will come back later (just not right now).
Meanwhile what happened after the exam was a typical David blow-up, except this wasn't typical:
First I actually managed to speak with the coordinator of the tutoring center...yes, I gave it one final shot. The short version of it is that we still couldn't work something out that my heart would be happy with (it wouldn't back down from female or else), so that option is permanently gone.
What was worse came afterwards. Actually it sandwiched the death of finding on-campus tutoring: First the professor wanted to talk to students as they handed in their exams. I know I can't work with him now so I waved him off and said simply that I didn't want to see the result because I knew it was bad. Then, later, I e-mailed him and effectively said don't bother trying to re-explain the concepts to me because if I didn't get you the first time there's no reason to think I will now...either pair me with a study buddy or leave me alone.
That wasn't how I put it, but that was the meaning that came out. It's going to be a long 12 weeks to the end of semester.
