Okay, see if this one makes sense to you guys:
I'm working on a final project for my litigation class (difficult, but workable) involving putting a trial notebook together for a fictitious case (creativity allowed) involving a car accident, slip and fall, breach of contract, or some other matter that would involve a lawsuit.
I actually feel somewhat...well, ashamed of myself on this. I mean, in a lot of her classroom examples, the professor has been using a situation involving an auto accident in which the driver was texting while driving (not uncommon these days, for better or for worse). Well, my creativity just...doesn't seem to be there for creating my own fact pattern. So my heart seems to be set on a variation of the example she's been using...involving an auto accident in which the driver was texting.
I don't feel good about this. I mean, I'm not going to use the same fact pattern that she has been, but it still feels like I'm cheating because to me, in the strict sense, I'm effectively stealing her idea. There's a part of me that wishes I could do better than this...but it just feels like there isn't enough time to mess with this further and so I pretty much have to take it for what it is and go.
But bleh...it just doesn't feel right.

Hmmm My Aunt once was involved in a lawsuit...Actually two. The first one was quite scary, and I think would be a good option for you. My cousin (her daughter) was with her babysitter in the car at the time, and the babysitter got in a car accident. The lawsuit came about because the babysitter never bothered to put my cousin in a car seat or even seat belt her.
The second lawsuit was for my Uncle (her husband). He works as a high school janitor, and was just doing his job, watching the kids get on the school bus after school. Well one of the teenagers came over and stomped on his foot! It completely smashed in the arch of his foot, and 5 years later he still has issues with it.
Or maybe you could do something really similar to her texting, but switch it up a bit even more...Like maybe instead of this person texting, the person was fumbling around looking for something, or was messing with car stereo.
