Well, I managed to get my court visit off...somehow.  It wasn't pretty.  I haven't slept well this week period, and last night was the worst...three hours.  When I woke up at 2am, I was awake for good.  Observing a court session easier than going to jury duty -- which I have done -- but the negative stress experience I had from my one time at jury duty wouldn't stop haunting me.  (That particular incident included a complete breakdown in the waiting room during what was supposed to be a lunch recess, even though I never got impaneled to a case that day).
So here's how bad this is getting emotionally...around 5:30am this morning one of the smoke alarms went off for no apparent reason, apparently because it was surrounded by cobwebs (not the first time).  Still lying in bed when the alarm went off (what's the point in trying to do anything when you're sleep deprived?), I froze immediately rather than investigate...it came off to me as one more thing I didn't want to deal with.
An hour later I conceded that if there really had been a fire, I would have let myself go up in the flames rather than try to save myself.  I really don't think anything else has to be said.
