Today I just feel frustrated because I haven't been able to get to what I've wanted to do, at least so far.
The cause this time is the refrigerator/freezer at home. It's acting up. The fridge is running too warm and the freezer too cold. It's happened once before, but that time we suspected it was because mother blocked an air vent by overpacking the thing. When we resorted it and trashed some old stuff that no one was eating it started to behave for a while. Now it's acting up again, and to me it doesn't look overloaded this time.
What's making this aggravating is that there will be repair people coming this afternoon, so I had to spend the morning doing the chores that I would normally space out so I could work on my studies. But on this morning they took a good hour longer than I was anticipating, in part because a couple of odd things came up that I wasn't expecting to handle. But it still resulted in the loss of the morning half.
The effect on me is this: I was hoping to make X amount of ground (just fill in the blank however you'd like), and practically speaking I don't have the time I need to make that ground now, because once the repair is finished, I'm almost certainly going to have to sacrifice more time to help with putting stuff back in the fridge where it belongs (the backup fridges in the basement are busy places today). It's in situations like this that my heart just sinks and I can't seem to get myself to salvage what I can...in other words, I tend to give up on the day a lot in this situation. But then I start feeling really ick because I didn't give myself a chance to at least salvage something.
Being aware of problems like this is absolutely useful...my problem is dealing with them effectively. That's what's going to make future goals, including the current one, so hard. It's not that I can't clear them; it's that there are all these old habits that won't disappear without a fight and it's just so easy for me to get discouraged.
