getting there...

I called the surgeon for Geo to see what else he needs to get the surgery. It's just a lung function test and a cardiac test. He also needs a camera down his throat. After that, they will have everything to present to the insurance for the final approval. He's never even been anywhere close to surgery before. His previous attempt was killed by the surgeon who said he had to be under 500 pounds. (he's 567 pounds). but now we are almost there. My mom is going to come down here and help out when he gets the surgery. My only worry is that his weight is going up instead of down. I think we will cut out going out to eat until the surgery. That, and he has to give up soda. I'm worried that when he goes on the all shake diet 3 weeks before surgery and he can't have food OR soda. He wants to quit at the same time he starts the shakes. I think he needs to quit before so it's not such a shock to his system.
I haven't been doing much lately. Just staying around in the house in my PJ's. I do have good news- I'm a size XL. When I started this journey I was a 3X almost at a 4X. My weight isn't great, but I know my body is changing and shrinking and that's a good thing.
I have my DMV driver's test on October 6th. Please keep me in your thoughts! I'm 31 and I've never had a license. I'm not a good driver, so even after I get it I won't be driving much. My car is a boat (98 Cadillac DeVille) and so it's harder to drive than a regular car. Hopefully I can rent a car at the DMV to use. I hear that they do that for people who don't have cars. It's like $30 or something... Not too bad in my opinion. We will see how it all goes!

It sounds like things are coming along for the two of you. It\'s nice that your mom is going to come and help out. Maybe instead of quitting soda you can get him to wean himself off of it so that it\'s not such a shock when the shake time comes. Those three weeks are going to be hard for BOTH of you. I wouldn\'t want to live with me if I couldn\'t eat for three weeks. Yikes. That would be bad.

Congrats on working towards getting your license. I didn\'t get mine until I was even older than you so don\'t worry about it. I don\'t like driving and I hate reversing into parking spots but that just means I park far away from other cars and get lots of extra steps into my day whenever I have errands to run. : ) There\'s always a silver lining. Good luck with your test.

busy days for the 2 of you! I like the idea of weaning, cutting back more ad more on the soda, then be off totally by shake time. it must be so unnerving for you and for geo, I know my friend was very nervous but totally commited. wow, 3 weeks of shakes, that is a long time, is it because it will cleanse out the body of any solid food? I wish you both a ton of luck and that all the tests and shakes go ok. it is a good thing about your mom, you will need the support. yahoo on being an XL, that is awesome!!!!! I remember that feeling and it was wonderful, so proud of you. I agree with the no eating out, it will be good in that you wont be eating that stuff and saving money, a win win. hugsss

Congrats on getting down to an XL the weight will follow.
I will think of you while you take your test. Yes, big cars are hard to handle. When you get your license practice in an area that isn\'t busy . Get used to the size & handling of the car.. happy to hear you can rent a car for the test. Just try it out before you go for the test. Every car is a little different. I am happy for you.

It\'s great to hear that Geo is so close to getting the surgery. when he\'s on the shake for 3 weeks do they expect him to lose a lot of weight? Good luck to him .
why are you in your Pj\'s is there a reason

I just find my PJ\'s comfy. I don\'t wear them to sleep, but around the house I do.
