Happy New Year!

Last night I was so tired I cheated. I slept from 9pm to 11pm and then wrote my journal. After that, I turned on the ball drop in NY and then went back to sleep. I was so tired, I don't know why. I slept from 1am to 3pm today. I woke up at 11am and I felt okay, but I went back to sleep. I should have gotten up then, because all I did all day was stay in bed. Well, with the exception of going for a walk and out to lunch. I went for my normal walk of 1.2 miles, and then as I was walking into the apartment, Geo called me and invited me out to lunch. So we went to Burger King and I was good with getting only a Whopper Jr. and small fries. It was all I was really hungry for, anyway. I was good about eating slower and walking faster today. I ate the Whopper slow, and was full by the time I was done. I walked my 1.2 miles with an average of 29 minutes a mile, which is faster than my normal 30 minute mile. It might be a small change, but it's something. I know I can walk even faster, but my ankle started bothering me again. I think it's my walking shoes... I need new ones. I've been using the same pair for almost 2 years now.
Mood today was good... I'm starting the year off on the right foot. I've been tired, but I feel good. I went for my walk even though I didn't really want to go, and that's a start. I pushed myself to go, and I did the distance I wanted to. Tomorrow I'm going to try for 2.5 miles or more again. I hope my ankle can support me for that distance. I have another pair of shoes, but they don't offer me the same support for my feet that the walking shoes do. I would rather have a pair of walking shoes that are a bit thin on the ankle support than shoes that are good for the ankle but not good for the foot overall. I should charge my MP3 player tomorrow... the batteries are only good for a couple day's worth of walking. I walk faster when I have my music going. It makes me feel better to have some good upbeat songs to walk to.
I should update my songs, too. I have some songs that I should put on there, that make me feel good and upbeat. I'm listening to Uncle Cracker's “Follow Me” and it gets me in the mood to walk. Some songs have such great beats that you just can't help but to move to them. Geo's outside watching the Giants and Cowboys game and I can hear him laughing and commenting on the TV. I think the Giants are winning by the sounds of his cheers. He was born in New Jersey, so he's a fan of the Giants and the Jets, the New York teams. I don't really follow football, so he's out there and I'm in here working on my journal. I might go out there and watch part of it with him when I'm done, though. I like spending time with him, even if it means watching football. It's not that bad, anyway.
Sleep last night was good. I feel a bit tired still, but I think that's from oversleeping. I'm not depressed today, though, like I have been in the past when I overslept. I'm excited about the new year and all the possibilities that lay ahead. Each new year is like a fresh start, and I'm trying to start this year on the right foot. I have so much ahead of me, my trip to LA, the possibility of me getting a part time job to help out with my bills, and so much more. I'm going to keep losing weight, keep on that path. I hope to lose between 25-50 pounds this year. That seems like a lot, but even with 50 pounds it's just a pound a week. 25 pounds is a half-pound every week. It's a doable goal, I think. If I can manage that, then I will be almost at my goal weight by the end of the year. I'm currently 229 pounds, and if I lose 50 that will take me to about 180 and I want to be about 160-170 pounds. I will have to see, since I might look too skinny at 160, but I might not. It just depends on how I look.
Food today was good... I was in my calorie range again. I had donuts for breakfast, and that was me cheating a bit. I wasn't planning on going to Burger King for lunch. I had my homemade chicken soup for dinner, and it was good. My throat is still off and on, but I think that I should be okay. I can talk and everything with ease, so I should be able to go back to work on Tuesday when the clinic opens again. They are closed tomorrow in observation of the 1st. I may have a long day on Tuesday... We need to get to the SSI office to get papers for Geo to prove his income, so I'm going to go with him and get mine too. Then we have to go to the grocery store, and then he has to drop the car off and I go to work. It's going to be a long day, but I can do it!



Whopper jr and small fries was a good choice at B. King! Cheat on the doughnut for breakfast...not a huge cheat and I think you ended up OK for the day.
